I am still experiencing several disconnections every day from the Nevo Connect and am trying to figure out the reason, I am even starting to wonder if I missed something in the programming.

I moved the Nevo Connect in the living room, about 20 feet away from the viewing position because I had constant disconnection when it was in the A/V closet.

Now I can sometimes go one day without any disconnection but when it starts the Nevo will disconnect between every keystroke for 10 or 12 times in a row.
The strange thing is that if I point the Q50 in direct sight of the Nevo Connect it will work fine and won't disconnect but if I put my hand in front of the Q50 (where the IR is) the Nevo Connect will disconnect and won't be able to be found again, take the hand off and it reconnects!

I checked my setup and I have correctly created/paired the Connect and the Q50 in Studio Pro. each a/v equipment in the Connect if correctly setup to it's input and the nvj file correctly recognize all devices (but the TV) as running through Nevo Connect... so how come it behaves as if it was an IR extender instead of the Z-wave connection?

Any suggestions?

I had a broken aerial on mine. It looked fine on the outside but the lead on the inside was busted. Have you tested on another NC50 or NC50 aerial?

Thanks for the input, that sounds like a very plausible cause of my problem.

I have not been able to test another aerial because I only have one, purchased mostly for testing purposes.

My original Q50 was defective and quickly exchanged by the distributor I bought it from but he won't answer my calls/emails about the Connect :(

Does anyone know of a different antenna i could try plugging in?

I too have disconnects on a regular basis (usually every minute or two of heavy usage). Does anyone know how to check the Z-Wave signal strength?

Same here - it regularly disconnects. Anyone had any luck in resolving this issue.

I tried resetting both the remote and connect but still get regular disconnects. The remote and connect are typically only separated by 5-8 feet with a single dry walled partition.

Yes, something is wrong here. My dev unit (which is in my own theater) has been working flawlessly since install. I can be in different rooms and still control my system with the Q50 and NC.

Make sure you use the Optimize function, in the Advanced menu on the Q50.

Just to confirm, a device will be on IR of it does NOT have a red dot in the NC configuration.

Everyone on the latest software/firmware?

I notice there is a new NSP update available today. The version for NSP is 1.1.0.823

Latest firmware is also available which is 1.1.0.227

Sorry, I am working on some pre-release software. Version #'s are incorrect.

I too am having the same disconnect issues. For now, I have my NC behind me and am attempting to use only the NC blaster, the NC does have a clear line of sight to all my equipment.

If the Q50 does not have a clear line of sight to the NC, I get a disconnect.

I have attempted resetting the Q50, removing NC from the Q50, resetting the NC and downloading each new config to the Q50 as well as optimizing, but have the same problem over and over.

In a nutshell, I can't get RF to work.

If anyone finds a fix or know what I may be doing wrong, please chime in and let me (us) know.

Dave, To make sure I understand..are you saying that the NC config. should show all gray when using the NC as a blaster, or when using IR hardwired? Im confused if the NC should show all gray, because this removes all the devices from the NC config.

I have had a few URC's in the past and have programmed them all, but my brain is becoming somewhat confused trying to switch over to new software, but I'm trying the best I can.

Last question, I still have some ir emmiters from my old URC MRF250, can I use these with the NC?

Thanks,

Mark

Mark,

It is my understanding that the Nevo Connect configurations should show the following:

1. Red if the device is being controlled by a specific IR port
2. Gray if the IR port is still available for control of other devices, OR if the device is being controlled by the IR blaster
3. Half red, half green if the Port is being used to connect to a Nevo Serial connector
4. Grayed out (dim gray) if the port is being used by a derial connector to control a DIFFERENT piece of equipment, and is therefore unavailable to be used to control anything else

I called UEI tech support, and they are RMAing the antenna for now. We'll see if that changes anything.

Hi,

It does not matter how the NC50 is set up in studio pro. If you are getting drop outs then something is wrong, the programming has nothing to do with this.

It may be either a H/W fault or interferance.

Take the system (NC50 and Q50) to another location, away from your install. There is no need to change the program as you just want to see if it is an interferance issue.
If it still fails then it may be a H/W issue, if so then talk to your supplier.

Thanks syd,

I will take my Q50 and NC with me to work tomorrow and see what happens.

I really hope this is not a hardware issue. What is odd though, is their are very few of us on this board that I see own both the Q50 and NC, and aside from the installers, it appears most of the rest of us are sharing the same issue.

Is it possible that installers are running an updated hardware/software version that the rest of us do not have access to yet, which may have corrected the issue?

Well, we shall see....

Same issues happened to me as TWilly. Nevo tech support tried some troubleshooting options on both the Q50 and the NevoConnect, but couldn’t get it to work properly. They suggested swapping out the antenna on the connect because they had seen some units where the internal antenna connection was broken.

I replaced the old antenna with a new one they sent me yesterday and I’ve had no problems with the system after several hours of testing. Hope it stays that way.

I have been part of the Dev team in australia. I know of the antenna as it happend to my unit. I am running a different version of studio but the F/W I am running at work is the same as the current release. I am running the test version at home. Both run with no issues.
