I've set up TwonkyMedia and my Nevo can now see all my MP3s but when I select a song I get the error message that makes the subject of this thread:

The selected content is not supported by this Media Player

'this Media Player' is Nevo Media Player and 'the selected content' are MP3s that play perfectly well everywhere else!!!!

Any ideas?

What are you using as a renderer? i.e. how is your network music connected to your stereo (receiver)?

My music files are on a server running TwonkyMedia and I have an HTPC running Nevo Media Player connected to my receiver via digital coax.

It used to work. I had Nevo Server and Nevo Media on the same HTPC and the same music files worked, but Nevo Server can't read 99% of my music which I can only attribute to issues with the ID3 tags?

I haven't tried running Nevo Player on my server machine and using a stereo 3.5mm - 3.5mm to feed the resultant music to the receiver....

Still I don't understand why Nevo Player on the HTPC can't play the MP3s that my Squeezeboxes have no problem with?

Anybody got any suggestions on this one? It's really bugging me that a media player can't play a simple MP3! It used to play them.....

Does anyone have any idea why I might be getting this error message? It's really frustrating that I can't use my Nevo properly, it can see the music from Twonky Vision, it just can't play it!?!?!?

I have TwonkyVision 4.2Q running on my nas (QNAP TS-101) and can play audio/foto/video on my laptop running Nevo Media Player 2.0
I have not found any mp3 not working. But all my mp3 tags are correct. But before adding any audio files to my collection i always update the tags.

But if Nevo Server can not use the files then switching to a different server does not make mutch difference. The same file will be streamed from Twonky to Nevo Player. Nevo Player has the same file type support as Nevo Server and the problem of the file stil exists only on a different place. Twonky wil not change the file.
Try fixing the files (tags) in the way Nevo Server can use them then Twonky and Nevo Player combination will work also.

I have similar problem. MP3 songs are fine, playing in many mp3 players fine, ID3 tags seem to be fine, v1 and v2, both. Nevo Media Player with Nevo Media Server plays them just fine. My library is large and need to browse music by folders - that Nevo Media Server does not allow, so I switched to Twonky. Right now I'm running 4.3 and NevoSL remote can browse folders with my music just fine.

BUT - when I try to play my MP3 in Nevo Media Player, it give the same error message: "The selected content is not supported by this Media Player". The only change was the server from Nevo to Twonky.

Last night I found interesting thing: when I rename MP3 to WAV - exactly the same file, still MP3, just change extension - NevoSL does not give the error anymore. There is something weird Nevo does when passing MP3. Or maybe the Nevo Player expect that Twonky does not give?

Any thoughts?

Any idea what's wrong with my tags? They are set using iTunes and my Squeezeboxes/SlimServer and TwonkyVision have no problem reading them so what is NevoServer expecting?

I don't use iTunes or Slimserver.
Most of my mp3's tags are changed using TagScanner. I also use TagScanner to add albumart to the files.
Before i updated the files (the first time i was setting up my collection) Nevo Server did not reconice many files. But after i updated the files wit TagScanner i have not found any problem.

I am getting this error when trying to use a hardware playback device (Helios X3000). I have previously used a Snazio, which produced the same error. Both music (mp3), videos and pictures gives this error. Now, both these players can use these files, as i have no problems when accessing them directly on the devices. But when using the Nevo to get files from the media server and outputting the on the hardware device, i get the error. Output to a software player works ok. I have also tested with various types of media servers (nevo, Twonky, Infrant built in), they all produce this error.

Any thoughts?

Have anyone had any luck using a hardware playback device, and if so, which?

The D-LINK DSM 320 must work (is in the hardware compatible list from Nevo)
The Helios X3000 seems not to work ( [Link: twonkyvision.de] ).
For audio i use Soundbridges en SoundbridgeRadio. They work.

Problem is that l lot of the devices have support to read upnp servers but not have implemented (or bad) the upnp part to let them be controlled remote (like the Nevo SL will use if using the media zones).
Most users do not need it zo it is not on top of the list of futures to add.

I own a Ziova CS-505. It also can read upnp servers but can not be controlled using Media Zones from the Nevo SL. This is a known limitation of the Ziova. There are plans to include support for this in future Firmware upgrades (can't wait).

You can also try Cidero (PC software) to see if there is any UPnP controling possible.

Hi ive been getting the same problems with twonky 4.3 running on readynas NV+, it just comes up all the time with "The selected content is not supported by this Media Player" So what i did tried every possible combination I had and can only see that it could be the way twonky is dealing with the files.

My hardware renderer is a sonos zp80 (tested with the sonos desktop controller and works with that from my nas share, Not Upnp it searches network shares directly on the sonos system)

Then i tried
nevo server->nevosl->Sonos (all good so far)
nevo server->Nevosl->nevo player (Still all good)
PS3 accessing twonky share on my nas (totally fine)
Xbox 360 and that was fine

here's where the problems start =

Twonkymedia 4.3 on readynas->nevosl->sonos (not supported file types)
Twonkymedia 4.3 on readynas->nevosl->Nevo Player (Not supported file types)

so then I went to see if there was a beta on the twonkymedia forum for my readynas and the link for my machine seems to be the only one not working for Twonkymedia 4.4 Beta 5 (Or any other beta for that mater). So then I thought I would download the the beta for windows and put it on my macbook pro to test. could find the server in nevo studio, uploaded to nevo sl and the zone never becomes active(Doh), so i think ok its a beta try the 4.3 on my windows machine still doesnt become active.

Ive now deleated the twonky from my macbook. But now I am officially at a dead end untill someone can show me the light. Sorry for the long post but i started on this at 1pm today (when my sonos zoneplayer was delivered) and its now 1:35am. hope someone can give me some inspiration to continue before all this mass of shiny boxes and a pretty remote end up out the window. Thanks lee.

I'm running Twonky 4.2 on my NAS the QNAP TS-101 and soundbridge clients. This works with the Nevo SL.
I just tested Twonky 4.4 beta 5 on my laptop. The soundbridge clients can access the Twonky server direct and work (using the Nevo only as IR remote).
With the Nevo SL using zones i can browse the 4.4 server. But when select a track to play i get also the 'Not Supported' message.
I also tried the Nevo SL simulator, it does work with Twonky 4.2 but not 4.4 like the remote.

For my QNAP TS-101 is a new firmware with Twonky 4.3. But i wil stay on the working 4.2 until Nevo or twonky wil fix the problems.

ahh this is good news it shows that it was working(as ive just started on this its good news to know it worked once) it must be the latest builds of twonky are the problem. Ill post this on the twonky forums in the hopes they will pick it up and fix as soon as possible. At the moment im switching my amp on and controlling volume with nevo but i have to have my laptop on to control my sonos which isnt ideal. Thanks for the post. Lee

I think the problem is not Twonky but the Nevo.
Twonky is using newer communication standards in 4.3 and up. Twonky (tested with 4.4) now can be used by Windows Media Player on Vista as source.
Media player 11 and Vista using Windows Media Connect 3.0. It seems the 3.0 standard is not yet supported by Nevo.
The same problems i see with Twonky (4.3 and up) i also see using the media sharing options in Media Player 11 on XP and on Vista. Also do not work (can browse the library but when selecting the 'not supported' message wil appear). The older versions of Media Connect must work but i have not tested them.
