Looking for a universal remote that -on top of being just a remote- can act as an interface to stream media from within an apple only environment to my audio/video setup.

1) The remote should be able to control multiple devcices
2) The remote should be able to control apple's itv
3) The remote should be able to stream audio
4) The remote should be able to browse through media libraries without having to turn on an additional screen/tv

The nevo sl is able to tackle the first 3 steps without having to consider the os used

I am stuck with the 4th step in the process, as nevo sl uses its own dedicated software to interact with the pc. This app being 'windows' only.

My question: anybody using nevo sl within a mac os environment? When used with fe apple's iTV (UPnP AV capable) can you keep the remote's streaming capabiliteis or is it then just a replacement for apple's supplied remote and would you still have to turn on a additional screen or worse your pc to browse media?

Thx

hello larsb!

had the same lookup for a remote setup.
here is my solution:

i bought the nevo SL, the nevo link and a itunes remote control (Keyspan URM-17A Express Remote Control). then i put a IR transmitter in front of the itunes control and configured my nevo SL with the settings of the itunes transmitter.
after that i connected the nevo link via LAN to my existing apple airport express network.
so it's possible to change titles and manage the volume of itunes all over my house (and hear also the music on all places, where i put a airport express).

but there are 2 con's:
1. it is not possible to make itunes show covers on the nevo SL or brouse through itunes library
2. using wlan let the nevo just operate for some hours because less battery power...

so if nevo could do a mac os software that would be great. but there are still heavy troubles installing nevo studio at vista. so i don't think that there will be a solution for mac users.

regards

I think NevoStudio will run fine under Parallels, Boot Camp and the other virtual machine software which runs most other XP apps, on Mac running Intel processors.

Will interact with several uPnP but may not work with all UPnP devices.

Has anybody tried Allegro AMS? This adds UPNP functionality to iTunes so in theory the Nevo should be able to remotely control iTunes? This would be great as it would mean that I wouldn't need to turn my plasma TV on to select a tune from the Apple TV.

I downloaded it to try but Allegro has not yet made it Leopard-compatible yet so I can't comment as I run exclusively Leopard.

Not sure if you an iPhone user or not, but this might be something worth looking at.

Lets you browse and control iTunes from your iPhone over a standard wifi network.
