I got my NEVO sl now for 2 weeks and I like it a lot! After finishing setting up the basic controls for my home theater in NevoStudio, I wanted to start playing with NevoMedia..... But !! already during installation of the NEVOMEDIA sofware it went wrong with the following announcement:

1682:Failed to complete installation

This happened on my desktop PC (after I installed NEVOSTUDIO) Hereafter I also tried to install Nevomedia on my labtop PC. And again the same announcement!!! So apperantly something is wrong with this software on the installation CD.

Is there anybody who also had this experience??? And maybe someone who knows how to solve the problem?

Thanks in advance

uninstall and reinstall it
Ed will be known as the Tiger Woods of the integration business, followed closely with the renaming of his company to "Hotties A/V". The tag line will be "We like big racks and tight holes"...

Thanks for the reply ed

"uninstall and reinstall it"

If you mean Nevomedia with " it ", there is nothing much to uninstall because the annaouncement "1682:Failed to complete installation" came very early already before I had to choose an installation location. So there nothing much to uninstall.

Perhaps you mean Nevostudio with "it". I'll try to uninstall this application and then I'll try to install Nevomedia. I wonder if this will help but we'll see, perhaps there is a conflict between an installed nevostudio and a new nevomedia installation....

Are there any comments on this? There should be someone who has experienced the same thing

To bad, both the uninstall of any Nevo application and the Temp folders cleanup did not help.

So for potential buyers who are also interested in using Nevomedia to browse and play your media collections on your wireless network: Realize that there is the chance that the software won't even install on your PC!!!!!!!

I also posted my problem at the MyNEVO website but untill now there is still no reply. I hoped to recieve a bit more support!!!!!!

The only thing left to do is contact my vendor. They will probably tell that I have to format my system reinstall XP and subsequently install the NEVO software (in case of any compatabilty problem with other software). This is something I really don't feel like doing ofcourse.

So if anyone still has a tip......

I remember something similar with my daughter’s iTune installation. Here is what I did back then to fix it:

Clear the temp folder through: Start-> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Cleanup: Select all the temp folders

Restart your laptop...

And since I'm not sure which version of Nevo CD you're using, you can get the Media setup from [Link: nevo.mynevo.com] (this will only work if you already have some other Nevo application installed on that machine)

Just make sure you download the one for NevoSL(top) and not their old iPaq

I never experienced any problems installing these programs on XP so take my help with a grain of salt:
1. shut down your antivirus/firewall prior to your next attempt
2. Perhaps your install CD is corrupted - contact your vendor

Okay I solved the problem

thanks to the tip of "justpassing":

I downloaded the nevomedia update from the mynevo website. And this one worked!!

So,this update appears to be the complete program!! And the presence of a CD installation, like it is told on the myNEVO website, is not nesessary.

It all works quiet well including the album art etc. The NEVO SL Wifi conection drops often though. Apperantly it recieves the network signal less good than eg my vaio labtop.

The only thing I hope to accomplish is to recieve the NEVO media server on my pinnacle showcenter (I haven't found the IP adress of the NEVO media server yet!!). This way I can stream my music from the PC on the attic to my hometheater in the livingroom all controlled by the NEVO sl.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Anyway thanks for the tips so far

Does the pinnacle piece have a ip address? You have to set it up as a target.

Is the Pinnacle Peice UPnP compatible?
If it is, then when you set up the Media ZOne in NevoStudio,
(Tools/NevoSl SystemSettings/Media Zones), you should see it come up under
'Playback Target'.
There is no way to connect it using the IP address.
