I downloaded the RC1 version of Vista to play around with and when I tried to load Nevo Studio, the sftware told me I needed to upgrade the version of Windows I was running. Has anyone else played around with this and gotten Nevo Studio to load onto a Vista box?

Same problem here. Some bootstrap installers check for the OS version and if it isn't one of those predefined it puts out a canned upgrade notice and the install fails. Short of Nevo software being updated, you (or I) probably won't be able to install the software. Then it also becomes a question of getting the upgrade as they don't make software available to end users.

?? I can only imagine this will be addressed in the next software update which would be available to any end user inside Nevo Studio...

Activesync is completely gone in Vista so I expect the update to be fairly major from Nevo Studio. Here's hoping it's out soon though. :)

In using my PhoneEdition on Vista I noticed that it really only needed a new USB Driver to be compatible with the new WMDC (Windows Mobile Device Centre) so it may not be that difficult to get sorted.

I also hope they'll add the ability to configure a proxy server from within the application, it's painful that it has to be directly connected to the net in order to browse the online DB.

cheers
Howard

Has anyone tried installing the older ActiveSync, with Vista and see if it not only installs but actually works?

Since ActiveSync is a separate module, maybe it is possible????

I have the Vista CD's staring me in the face, just waiting for all of the remote guys to get their apps to work in Vista.

Dave, I am running a dual boot VISTA/XP setup at present and very glad I decided not to go for an upgrade from XP. I have contacted Nevo who suggested that I may be able to get the MediaServer running under Vista by just copying the relevant files from the XP partition to the vista. Tried this over the weekend and it failed.

Apparently the first part of the full Nevo instalation process looks at the installed OS and if it is not compatible will immediately close the installation.

I am intrigued as to how Nevo will deliver the update as as far as I know the current Nevo software is not available as a download?

It looks like they have painted their self into a corner. The release of Vista has been known for some time.

This is the response I received from Nevo

"The Nevo team is making the necessary changes to NevoStudio to become
compatible with Windows Vista. We are planning to release a new version
shortly after Windows Vista becomes officially availably in 2007."

I have Nevo running on Vista! All I did was upgrade my PC(which already had NevoStudio) from XP to Vista and it just worked! At least the portions I played with!

The ActiveSync problem was annoying, but Vista automatically installed the new USB communication service the have as soon as I plugged in my NevoSL, but had to restart NevoStudio for it to recognize the USB…

Again, I have not tested the whole thing yet, so I don’t really suggest it to anyone

Is there any chance you could give it a full test or at least let me know which bits you have got running. My priority is to get the mediaserver and play up and running

Thanks

Chris
