So, don't get me wrong, I've had the Nevo for 2 weeks now and I love it. BUT, being pedantic, I can't really see the purpose of the Wifi.

It's great to be able to control a remote PC and play tunes, display pictures etc but in order to experience them in a different room to where the PC is located, you need some form of media extender. Media extenders invariably come with their own WiFi capability (generally 802.11g) and their own IR remote control. So by teaching your universal remote the IR codes from your media extender remote, you achieve playback/photo display without ever using the WiFi capabilities of the Nevo!

So the Nevo is a VERY expensive universal IR remote control!!!

Isn't it?

i personally never had any intention of using Wifi, i chose the Nevo for its many other outstanding qualities. in comparison it may be a LITTLE more expensive than the Pronto, but cheaper than the MX3000 (both of these have RF ability mind you).

The wifi or more specifically the Nevolink gives you the option and ability to also control equipment that is located in a cabinet or out of sight of the remote user. I think the price is in line with other remotes with the same capabilities.

There are more expensive ones on the market and like Stealth said, it compares very favorably.

If you do have a media extender, it often does what the Nevo can do, provided you are sitting right in front of your equipment.

If you wanted to take it to another room or outside and control your equipment, you would need the NevoLink and then the whole wi-fi thing, with the mp3's being listed on the Nevo SL, is quite a nice feature.
