I am interested in buying the Nevo SL and I have read lots of positive feedback on this forum about how people love their remote. The one thing holding me up from buying it is that it runs on B instead of G wireless. Has anyone heard if they plan on updating that? Seems to me like most networks are G now and not B?

I'm pretty sure its only 802.11b and not g. My wireless network is mostly g and I have no problems using Nevo. I do not use wireless for Nevo Link, but use it to control the music on my Windows Media Centre PC from Nevo and it works just fine.

Unless Nevo bring out a hardware upgrade it will not be possible for it to do either G or N. These standards are not purely software based.

Hope this is useful.

Peter.

Peter is 100% correct.

I actually have my NevoSL on a Pre-N wireless network and it works fine.

When I attended one of their training sessions, the question came up as to why they didn't put 802.11g in the product. They said (and I would have to agree), that since the amount of data going between the network and the NevoSL is so small (IR commands, names of songs, small pictures, etc.), they didn't need the horsepower.

Besides, I'm sure 802.11g would probably be even more of a power drain on the NevoSL's battery as well.

With the type of data being transmiited to & from the Nevo, I'm not sure that 802.11g or 802.11n for that matter will exhbit much acceleration over 802.11b. The Nevo itself does not stream any data, rather it simply locates and calls up file names which are then streamed from PC->router->TV (via a renderer). The Nevo takes no part in the "heavy duty" stuff.

I too have a Pre-N system, the signal from the Nevo to call up a file takes a fraction of a second even at 802.11b. After that, the speed is dependent on the PC->router->renderer which transmit the data at their own inherent rates. I don't notice any slowdown. When I tap the screen to change the song, it does so immediately. I honestly doubt I'd notice any difference with an upgraded radio in the Nevo although it may be slightly "immediately-er".

That all makes sense but there are some times I notice a slow down in my wirless connection when I run a mixed network versus just a G. I was looking to avoid running a mixed network.
