I have the Nevo and the Nevolink controlling a Denon A/V receiver. When i put in a volume up or volume down command into the Nevo, it moves the volume up or down by .5Db. This is a very small change in volume and it takes a very long time to make a significant volume change. If I hold the volume button down on the Denon remote, the volume changes quickly. Holding the volume button down on the Nevo does not make the volume change quickly. Does anyone know if I can make the Nevo control the volume similar to the Denon remote? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did you learn the IR code from the Denon remote, or are you using data base codes?

I have tried both learning from the Denon remote and using the Nevo data base codes. Same result.

Joel,

I've given this some thought. What model Denon do you have? Also, when you learned the code after the "stock" code not working, did you learn a whole new code or did you edit the volume codes and relearn the ones given to you?

I guess the reason I ask that second question is because I am wondering if the codes listed by UEI for volume have an inherent loop to them based on there function and maybe you lose that when simply learning a whole new code.

Have you tried to use the hex code instead of a learned IR?

I have the Denon AVR-3806.

I just learned the volume up and volume down codes from the Denon remote. I left the original stock code (for a Denon AVR-3805) for volume up and volume down in the device list and just added two more using the Nevo learn function. Does that answer your question?

I have not tried the hex code approach for volume. I did add a few other functions using the Hex code so I am familiar wiht doing that. I will try that tonight.

I have the 5805 - learned the codes from the remote and all is well!

Listed below are the Hex codes for the functions you are looking for. Try that. Also, the configuration I sent you was also contained all the codes for the 3806, you could copy and paste from that. Those codes work great.

Ckelly33- I put in the Hex codes and no change. Maybe it's just slower since I am going thru my Wifi to send the IR commands.

Ted Gatlin- are you using the NevoLink to control your Denon 5805 (Wifi to IR)?

Joel, if Ted can't help you with this then I'd bet our local Remote Control Superman can probably help you (Dave D'Arche).

I am pretty sure that even with the factory remote the volume changes in .5db increments, I believe that this something denon changed about 4 years ago and I don't think there is much that you can do. I have experienced the same problem with all remotes not just the Nevo.

I understand the issue is not that the volume changes at 0.5dB increments so much as it ONLY changes 0.5db per button press on the Nevo remote, meaning instead of continuing to move up or down while holding the button, this guys only getting 0.5dB no matter how long he holds it down. The only way he's getting results is to tap on the Nevo's volume several times to get it to change (like 6x gets you 3.0dB)

Am I reading this right?

NO! I have a Nevo Link - but at the present time I am using IR only!

ckelly33- your understanding is pretty much correct. If I hold the volume button down on the Nevo (sending commands thru the Nevolink) it continues to make volume changes, but the changes are .5Db every second or so. If I hold the volume button down and send commands via IR it works like the Denon remote (very quick volume change). I hope this helps to calrify.

I didn't realize it would do anything beyond the first command. It doesn't matter I don't guess. When I placed your configuration inside my Nevo, it ran the volume up & down very briskly (from blaring to silence in 2 seconds or so). Did you try it without the NevoLink? It very well may be the speed at which your network will receive and transmit the Nevo's signals.
