I'm having trouble with WiFi after installing
the firmware update. I'm able to send commands
from the emulater just fine, and on the NevoLink
settings page in the emulater, my NevoLink appears
in the Assigned NevoLinks box. But on the remote
the NevoLink appears in the Assigned NevoLinks
box with an exclamation point and the MAC address.

The white paper said this is because the device
was busy during discovery. I've tried the refresh
list button and resetting the remote, but no luck.

This worked fine before the update. Any ideas?

Dennis

Are you talking about FW upgrade on the AccessPoint? If so they usually add features or over-write your settings during this process. Make sure you set the parameters described in the whitepaper on mynevo website about NevoSL networking. some things to consider:

1. The AP should be running in Mixed mode.
2. QoS should be disabled and ACK mode should be set to immediate.
3. Security parameters should be double checked( MAC filtering, WEP or WPA...)
4. Trying removing the old AP setup from NevoSL, re-add it and reset NevoSL.
5. Make sure you have ONLY one DHCP server on your network and make sure your NevoSL is getting a valid IP.

again, these are only a few possible resolutions, but the whitepaper is complete.

Does anyone here have any information on known issues with the Belkin Pre-N router (F5D8320-4 v.2000)? Is anyone successfully using this router? I was told in another forum that my issues of not being able to make a connection with my media zones was possibly an issue with my specific router. I have used D-Link routers in the past and didn't get the wide coverage that I have with the Belkin Pre-N router. I have emailed UEI but no response. Can anyone here help with either of these questions?

Hey Chris,

Maybe the first few things to check is to see if the router shows the Nevo SL on the network.

You have upgraded to the new software? It has a lot of wi-fi improvements.

Hey Dave, good to hear from you. Yeah, I've got the new firmware installed. As a matter of fact, I've gone ahead and switched out my router for a D-Link. Nevo didn't pick up right away but it did pickup. A couple of problems with this though: I can only get it to work with WPA and not WEP. If I can't get it to work with WEP, I would have to switch two other pieces of hardware in my house which are WEP only (I refuse to do this on principle!). The other issue is that the D-Link router has decreased my coverage area by about 1 "notch" per room (very good is now good, etc.) and some rooms are now completely lost.

I'd really prefere to be able to resolve both of these issues by switching back to the Belkin Pre-N router but I heard on another forum that there is a "known issue" with the pre-n routers. I'm itching to switch this back to the Belkin but I'm enjoying playing with the media server and am afraid I will lose the connection forever.

After what has seemed like months of screwing around with the WiFi I had decided this morning to give up on the Nevo...and then BAM my media server finally starts working (does the Nevo have a "survival chip"?). This has rejuvinated my interest but if the WiFi problems start up again, it's over.

You've been a great help in the past, can you pull me through one more time?

Thanks!

I had problems connection to my wifi network, but I did the following:

Tried another channel or/and wep key on the router
Searched on my Nevo for the network
Reset my Nevo

And it worked.

Thanks. I've been at work reading the Nevo white paper that Dave D'Arche posted on his website www.remotequest.com (29 pages....yawn) and it has given me a few ideas. I'll try yours too. Maybe one of these days I'll get this thing working and begin to enjoy it.

Well, it works. I read the whitepaper on Nevo WiFi connectivity on Remotequest's site and it works. I switched back to my good ol' Belkin Pre-N router and made a few changes and my media pairings popped right up.

Thanks Dave for posting that piece of information, it was a huge help and put me one step closer to ending the irritation that was growing inside me that could only be otherwise satisfied by throwing this things against the wall.

Now let's see if I like it....
