I am starting to look at the RTI equpment to replace our long time standard Pronto remotes. I'm just curious is someone can give some examples of where and when they would use the CM-232 in a real life situation. Since there is no two way communication, it seems to me that IR would do the job fine. Two examples I can think of are for controlling Lutron and for integrating into a system where you don't want to see those IR emmitters on the front of the equipment.

Well one example, Russound cav6.6 If you want to be able to control zones without actually being in the zone and pointing the remote at a KP 232 is the only way to go. I also have sold many Retro Cav 6.6 Systems that did not have wires pulled for KP's
Also Some EQ. does not have discreet Ir codes but will have discreete 232 commands.

I just did a meridian system with the RP-6 and a CM232 cable and used a T3
The customers have 2 sons..they like to turn it up, in the startup of the meridian I have it issue a Set vol command to a low volume..this way when the parents come home and the kids shut off the system in a hurry the volume defaults back to a normal level when powered back up
and as Proggieus mentioned..for multiroom control when no KP in room

There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far. |
