Hi all,

My apologies if this has been discussed before, but none of my search terms provided any results.  Here's my problems:

A new client has an existing C3 & S70 (both on separate NevoConnects) from a previous installer that went AWOL.  They needed the remotes updated to new Xfinity cable boxes.  I had the software for the C3, but had to download the Studio Pro and use for the first time.  I figured out how to extract the existing program, add the new cable box, and use Superfast Device Swap.  Went over to test out remotes, no prob with the C3, but nada with the S70.  It wouldn't talk to the NevoConnect - even with existing activities I didn't touch, i.e. "Watch Movie" would no longer turn on blu-ray.  I went back into program and see where the new cable box is listed under Devices as Controlled via IR, but I can't figure out how to change it and get it into the Ecosystem.  Also, I think when I downloaded the new program it updated the firmware on the S70 - would this have any affect on it communicating with the NevoConnect? Or would the newer Studio Pro vs. being programmed with the older version of software make a difference.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

You probably need to plug in the nevoconnect and update the firmware.  It most like was programmed with nevostudio pro 2.0 and you used 3.0 with the new file.

Howdy Duct Tape,

I kinda figured that was the case on the nevoconnect. Now, can ya give me a clue on how to get the IR device into the Ecosystem?

Thanx.

You need to plug your computer into the same network as the NevoConnect and add the NC-50 to your ecosystem in NevoStudio. Once added you can edit the NC-50 to assign your devices to specific ports or front ir blaster (all).

the nevoconnect is not a network device, it plugs in via USB.

ihere are the steps for assigning a device to the nevoconnect

1.  find the Nevo Ecosystem tab under the Hardware section and click on it
2. Expand the tree where it says NevoConnects.   You should see a Mac address for each nevoconnect in your project.
3. double click on nevo connect that you want to edit.  a window will pop up.
4. make sure that configure connections is checked, then click next
5. here you will see a list of all the devices in your project.   all you do at this point, is click in the column where you have the IR emitter connected.
6.  Click on Finish.

To update the firmware:
1.  find the Nevo Ecosystem tab under the Hardware section and click on it
2. Expand the tree where it says NevoConnects.   You should see a Mac address for each nevoconnect in your project.
3.  highlight the nevoconnect that you want to update.
4.  make sure that the nevoconnect is plugged into your computer via USB
5.  click on the blue arrow that points up.
6.  the rest of the process is pretty simple to figure out following the onscreen direction.

And the saga continues....
I got the cable box into the ecosystem (thanks again); oddly the Nevoconnect already had the latest firmware, but I can't get any communications between the remote and the Nevoconnect. The other issue I have is I can't figure out how to change the hard buttons in "Watch TV" activity to control the AVR volume, just the cable box.

Is there some process to pair the remote to the Nevoconnect?
How do I change the hard buttons on volume to control a different device?

I have both devices here locally, so I ran the emulator but can't seem to gain any ground. Any advice?

TIA

Jeff

"How do I change the hard buttons on volume to control a different device?"

On your landing page go down to the properties tab and change the "inheritance" and then you can add commands on the volume buttons for the component that you decide.

Thanks TimmyS....I found the "inheritance" area which was set to "NO"; I changed the volume to "YES" (like the other devices) and it grayed out the buttons?? I changed it back to NO which removed it from being grayed out, and manually set the buttons (I think) by opening the AVR commands under Hardware, highlighted each volume up/down button and then double clicked the AVR's commands respectively. The commands show up in the "Actions" tab, and when I mouse over the buttons, but I'm wondering if I missed a step.

With all the other devices set to "YES", nothing listed under the "Actions" tab, yet when I scroll over the button it shows the correct command, I'm puzzled.

Did I fail to associate this newly added device with some global command that pushes through the volume command to all the pages?

Thanks again.

JD.

The only thing that I can think of is that the command has not been told to come out of the remote or the appropriate port(s) or Blaster on the NC50. Settings are under ecosystem, name of nc50, then double click the device and fill in the correct dot for front or the appropriate port.
