I purchased a nevo sl from ebay... I previously worked for a custom home theater installer/dealer, so I am familiar with the unit, and have actually programmed an sl before, but that was 4 years ago, and I was using the software from the "dealer login" site... I downloaded the free nevostudio pro 1.1 software at mynevo.com, but when setting it up, it asks and shows options for the s70 and q50, but nothing for the sl. Can I just use the s70 layout, and simply not program anything onto the extra keys? Please advise, and thanks in advance!

NevoStudio Pro doesn't support the SL. You need the older Nevo Studio software.

I have also bought a Nevo SL from Ebay recently. However, the software provided does not work with my 32-bit Vista laptop.

I know that the Nevo SL has been discontinued but is there anyway of getting hold of software that does work? Perhaps a link or a copy of the software?

Otherwise the remote is useless.

Thanks in advance

You could use an older computer that you have laying around, borrow one, or try setting up an XP partition on your Vista laptop.

Why would you buy a remote without understanding the software and programming situation?

Before using the NevoStudio software for the first time on a Vista machine, you have to connect the Nevo remote to the PC using USB.
The 'Windows Mobile' will come up and try to recognize the remote. Once it is recognised, do not try to configure the remote using Windows Mobile as it will mess with the OS in the remote. Just allow the Windows mobile window to remain up and then download and install NevoStudio.

Hi all,
I also have a Nevo SL which I bought from eBay a couple of years, and have it programmed as desired using the appropriate NevoStudio software on Windows XP. We have just built a new PC running Windows 7.

John: Your trick for Windows Vista looks interesting. I wonder if it will work on Windows 7? AFAIK, Windows 7 is closer to Vista than Vista is to XP. I'm a little reluctant to try it, though - don't want to end up with a confused remote control.

We still have an XP machine, but the main computer with a decent desk and chair in front of it is Windows 7... so it's more of a luxury than a neccessity.

The other thing that might be a complication for us is that we're running 64 bit windows 7.

Other than the very annoying volume-shooting-up-all-the-way bug, the Nevo SL seems a decent remote - certainly good enough until there's a decent AND cost-effective remote out there.

Regards
Dave
