Hello, I have a Nevo Q50 and unfortunately the scroll wheel on the side broke. It appears that the scroll wheel that is exposed is simply a "clip-on" piece to the internal scroll wheel, which allows it to stick out of side of the case. The end of the clip broke off, so now it will just slide freely on the scroll wheel.

Does anyone have a spare part, or perhaps a broken Q50 they'd be willing to part out? Unfortunately, I'm an end-user who can't submit a request directly to Nevo for warranty work AND unfortunately it appears they're going out of business. I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with such a cheap/trival part.  I'm willing to pay for the part and shipping, so long as it's fair.

I've attached a picture of the broken part.  Thanks in advance!

contact Nevo and see if they will warranty it. They have always been good with their customers.

No, not "end user" customers. They provide no access at all for THOSE customers....the people who actually buy & use their products. (Makes me wonder if this didn't contribute to the Nevo unit's demise. If they simply sold spare parts for some of these simpler repairs...perhaps through an online parts & accessories store....maybe they wouldn't have had to replace so many otherwise good remotes through their archaic, cumbersome user-to-installer-to-Nevo-to-installer-to-user warranty process.)

I just wanted to come back and post here that sydinstaller was able to procure another scroll wheel cover for me (all the way from the other side of the world) at an extremely reasonable price. I'm very grateful for his help in getting the part for me (even if it took someone from 9000+ miles away to offer their assistance - makes me even more thankful).

For those of your in Australia, I would definitely recommend contacting Sydinstaller for your CI needs. Great guy! Wish we had a few more suppliers like him around:)

Hi Dave,

Not sure, I just called the distributer (Amber Technology) and they helped.

I would have thought that Nevo would either sell the parts to you or be able to supply parts to end users through a service agent.

Who is you Nevo contact?

Maybe its different in Aus due to the distance involved?

I've had dealers (in the U.S.) confirm that, while they can get any current remote and accessories, they do not have access to parts. They claimed this is because Nevo wants complete control over servicing.....no "in the field" repairs.

The scroll wheel design, BTW, is quite poor.....annoyingly vulnerable, much like the backlight contacts. Both of these weak spots are prone to failure but are relatively easy to repair, so it's irritating that a little part like the scroll wheel cover isn't available here. I repaired one recently by using the cover from another unit I'm more-or-less "parting out." (If anyone here in the U.S. can get these parts, please PM me. I'd love to keep some spares on hand....)

I am looking for a scroll wheel for the Nevo Q50. Regrettably, Nevo has closed and I have no access to parts.

Just open the remote (you can also do it with the remote closed if you are extra careful) and use cianocrilate (Loctite) to glue the outer cover of the wheel to the inner wheel. Done so with two Q50 remotes with no problem.

great idea, when I replaced the battery this was a single point of failure. I had read enought to know that I needed to be careful around the fragile, poorly designed scroll wheel. I was careful and able to get the battery replaced without damaging the wheel. The lock tite solution sounds like a good one though.

yes, this works very well as long as you are careful with the super glue. The problem is that UEI apparently had to have a separate part made to go over the roller wheel so that it would extend past the case. In doing so they had to make a very fragile, snap-on extender for the roller wheel. The "fragile" extender part is what breaks regularly, making the roller not work well.

I have glued many of the add-on parts to the roller wheel with super glue and they are solid and work long term. Goal is to add the super glue on small dots all around the add-on piece where it makes contact with the roller wheel and hold it steady for a few minutes to ensure good contact. Glue then hold in place steadily for at least two minutes and then don't move it for at least 30 minutes.

You want to use a tooth pick and put some super glue on a yellow sticky or something similar and then dip the toothpick into the glue and carefully drop it onto the areas all around and between the add-on piece and the actual roller wheel. You have to hold the add-on piece steady for a few minutes to make sure it maintains contact. I have done a few dozen so your mileage may vary. Just go slow and have a lot of patience and wait at least 30-40 minutes before trying it, depending upon how much super glue you use.

Good luck - DD
