take me to your leader
Ed will be known as the Tiger Woods of the integration business, followed closely with the renaming of his company to "Hotties A/V". The tag line will be "We like big racks and tight holes"...

End of June myself.

I pointed out a bunch of things in the inital
post about how most dealers are not comfortable
with becoming the SYS admin for hometheater customers.

I am always curious about what is gonna actually
work well.

With the all the stuff I wrote in my first impressions
of the unit I sat there and wondered. Why would
a custom instal distro sign an exclusive with
a maunfacture who has built something with no
interest in selling it to CI? But then again I
remember when I think it over hard enough $$$!
:)

Well at least the thought that is might actually
make money.

The two worlds are slowly becoming one, and you do have a lot of guys doing both the theater/distro and the network stuff.
Gunga.....Gunga....GU-Lunga

And since Ernie won't keep count, I will. Hes up to 249, and counting.

Half of them brag about getting their NevoSL
for a cut price on Ebay...

NevoGuy. Are you reading the same thread? I could not see any reference to Ebay or about getting them for a cut price.

surfermc,
Not in this thread - some of the "end-users" were talking about that in another thread in this forum.

The point being, that it is the professional installer types that are either buying the units and selling them on Ebay , or selling them at cost to other people who are,
and splitting the earnings, (contrary to the agreement signed with the distributor).
The idea was to protect the installers by limiting the distribution of the product
and allowing them to make money on the product as well as the install. Apparently, some of us didn't get the mesage.

Carl,

I end up doing the network work. Yes I agree that my knowledge of both fields is a must have in my job.

Do I meet dealers all day that can't even figure out that AOL is not the whole internet. HELL YES.

Are some of them just great at all the other things that have nothing to do with computers... some times.

But that guy who just got his A%$D account and used to run security wire... WON'T GO THERE :)

Just saying that general knowledge of computers is one thing. But extensive knowledge and the ability to trouble shoot things is not always something most dealers want to deal with. Remote is addressed to RF 1 and base is RF 1. Good enough. Or the guy who says... you jst have to point.

There is a wide and varied crew in this profession.
