I got my hands on the NEVO SL today and thought I'd program it up for one of our store systems. I was a little dissapointed with the lack of inbuilt discrete codes. The training day led me to believe it had almost every discrete under the sun! Apart from that, I thought the remote is great. What are other peoples thoughts?

How about an analysis of its strengths and weaknesses compared to other similar remotes?

OK.. Firstly this thing feels sooooo much better in the hand than any other remote I've ever used. It's IR output is very strong, possibly a bit better than a RU980 (ProntoPro NG). The screen seems a little easier to read than a ProntoPro NG, but I didn't try any of my own graphix on it yet. The inbuilt themes are surpisingly good. The Windows CE operating system means that everyone in our office seemed pretty familiar with it straight out of the box. But that could mean that the end user feels familiar and goes exploring. Could be dangerous, but I haven't gone too deep into this yet. Many people will argue with this, but I think the hard keys are a little too close together, I like the fact the volume and channel buttons stretch over almost 3 inches on the Philips. Unfortunately, we weren't able to test the most interesting bit yet, the NevoLink was supplied without a PSU (Damn the 110v manufacturers!), due into store today. This will make or break this remote. Being able to get track listings and album art off your music server (including PC) will be huge, although I've been told it's a bit clunky at the moment. Programming is a cinch. I'd forgotten everything I learnt in training, but quickly picked it up again. Learning codes was the best I'd ever seen! Even notoriously hard-to-learn codes learned in perfectly first go! Uploading/Downloading is very fast, and one of the best things is the test downloading to find the appropriate codeset. The software temporarily downloads all the codesets for eg: Onkyo Recievers, and you then test which codeset works. Press Select on the remote, and the correct codeset is automatically placed into the programming.
Overall, this thing could easily take over as our prefered remote! Will post on the NevoLink ASAP.

Yes you can delete & rename buttons, even change all the buttons on the page to new graphix in about 2 seconds. The AUD $RRP is $1695 with the NEVO LINK at $495, competative with the ProntoPro NG. Cost cannot be printed, as this is a public site.

UPDATE... Have been playing around with it for a few hours now, and have found some more good and bad points. Good - The NevoLink rocks! ANYONE with a Media PC needs one! Full track listings, cover art etc.. My wife could use it straight away with only being told to use UP,DOWN,OK. The range of Wi-fi means that you could realisticaly use this anywhere in an average house. I was controlling media on my PC and viewing track data in my carpark.. Almost 25 metres away through about 5 brick walls. Bad - Unit has to 'think' sometimes. Eg; press button & nothing happens for a second or two. I blame Microsoft for their OS. (Because I can!)
I'm getting one.

Mugen, that was my point, I did not try reading the translation. But my experience with babelfish (or any other) is that sometimes the translation is worst then trying to decipher it in a language you don't know :)
That is why I said if there are parts you need help with just ask.

Not sure if anyone is still interested. A few cons about the Nevo.
1. Loses WIFI connection every now and then, even if you set WIFI to never turn off. 2. When WIFI never set to turn off, battery will last about 4.5hrs. 3. Control over DSM-320 media box very spiratic. Apparently Nevo are working on this. The idea being that the DSM-320 can be used as multiple zone breakouts for music stored on your music server PC.
If anyone has been able to rectify any of these issues, would be very interested.

You got it to control a DSM-320?!? My DSM-320 could see the server but couldn't access it. What software are you running? D-Link server or Nevo server?

Nevo server, but you can't have any firewalls on the network, infact it was only when I set up a proprietry network that I could get nevo studio to see it. Also the losing WiFi thing seems to be random.

The only time I've had an issue with it losing WiFi is when its been sitting for a ong period of time, which is to be expected. Other than that, no issues at all.
