Guys I did a search and found a few post on this, but did not see that anyone has found a reason or a fix. Could someone help me with this issue.

I plug in the Q50 and it will connect, but will not show up it the NSP. And after I set u[p the device in mobile device center it disconnects and gives me an error message.

I am using Windos Vista

More information would be useful:

Does NSP ever see the Q50?  I'm not sure what you mean when you see it connects.....

Who is giving you the error message?  ...Windows? ....Mobile Device Center? .....NSP?
And what is the message?

Mobile device center sees it but thenm it disconects and i get an error message for MDC.

NSP never even recognizes that it is connected.

Any chance you have the sleep setting on a very short delay, even on AC power? It loses its connection when it goes to sleep. (I now remember to change the setting whenever I connect my remotes for programming.)

It may well be something else, but sometimes its good to rule out the simple stuff first. :)

I can't say for MDC, but on XP with activesync installed I had similar issues once.  uninstalling activesync and reinstalling it fixed my issue.  Can you do that with MDC?

You may need to go through the firmware update in NSP 3.0. I have seen NSP 3 fail to recognize the remote even though MDC has seen it.

I just did something similar yesterday when MDC saw the remote and NSP 3.0 did not see it. The firmware update seemed to stuggle a bit and I had to unplug the USB cable and put it back in and then the firmware updater moved through that phase. It later bogged on the next phase until I pulled out the USB and re-inserted and the firmware updater started again and eventually finished. I cannot explain why it did this, maybe others can but eventually it did finish and then worked ok with NSP 3 seeing the remote and completeing the download sucessfully.
