Anyone know of a way to submit feature requests to Nevo. I have two things that have been bothering me since NSP 3.0, but I don't know how to communicate them to Nevo.

First, the ability to export widgets is great, but it would be nice to be able to pair any z-wave devices with the widgets when exporting. For example, if I write a complex widget using a z-wave device, for example my thermostat widget, I can export it, but for someone else to use it, they have to edit the widget and replace all of the thermostat blocks with those of their own thermostat, which could get messy since a lot of the paths overlap in the widget creation tool. If I could include the thermostat device in the widget export, then it's a matter of another user importing the widget/device combo and re-linking their own real thermostat with the imported thermostat virtual device.

Second, local flags seem completely useless as far as I can tell. My first issue is that a set flag input also outputs. The second issue is any get command outputs to all lines drawn off the output side of the local flag block. That said, I can set the variable and it will output through any path drawn out. I think the smarter way to handle this would have been that "set" is only an input, and wouldn't output anything. Additionally, I would have allowed numbered "get" input/output combinations, so that the first get input would output only on the first output. Similarly, the second input would output on the second output, and so on. As it stands, the local flag only seems to be a constant that you can set through the code and pretty much use for one task in the widget. An alternative would be allowing multiple local flag blocks with the same name in the same widget always holding the same value. For example, if you have 3 local flag blocks all labeled "currenttemp", when you set one, all three blocks get set.

I know it's hard to explain the above without drawing it out, but I hope it makes sense.

In reference to the feature I mentioned above about allowing widgets to be exported packaged with devices... I just downloaded the yahoo weather widget, and it is packaged with an IP device... it automatically installs a device for yahoo weather... Does anyone know how to do this with NSP3?

All widgets will do this.

The only thing you can't do is use SFDS in a widget. Maybe in 3.1...

Hey, hey - thanks D... it does support that feature. I just tested it on one of my widgets, and not only did it package a z-wave device, but it packaged a necessary global flag as well. That's great.

I'm now wondering if I'm mistaken on local flags and their usefulness.

You might not see an immediate response, but the truth is that UEI is looking at these requests and is implementing them as evidenced with the latest version of Nevostudio. I including many others have made several requests over the years that have received the proper attention. I know many of my clients are very happy with the added features so I would not hesitate to suggest things you consider new and useful with the knowledge they are actually reading it and evaluating these requests regularly.
