Hi all,

In search of a new gadget I considered the Pronto- and Nevo-series.
Recently I purchased a used Nevo SL.

I am so glad i bought it! I am still fiddling with the right theme and setup (right now i use the 'Mugen wheel'. But the search for the ultimate 'Wife acceptance setup' remains ;)
Also, I am setting up a simple uPnp renderer as HTPC (Freenas with Fuppes acts as uPnP server).

I like to thank this forum and it's members as i found many answers to my questions. Whilst still looking for some answers (WPA won't associate, possible uPnP renderer, albumart on Nevo SL, etc.), I'll contribute to this forum as much as possible.

Kind regards,
Geppie

Welcome the Nevo club. :-)

I haven't programmed a NevoSL in quite some time, but I'm pretty sure that it does not support WPA. So I think you'll have to lower your encryption setting to WEP if you want to use UPnP control.

I had a few sites were I installed a NevoSL controlling content through UPnP, but I remember having a hard time finding the right combination of devices for the server and player. After some time, I found that the most reliable solution was to use that Nevo Media software that came with the NevoSL and install that onto a PC. Other than that, I did use a D-Link Media Lounge and a Roku M1000 at one point, but I think those players required the NevoSL never to go to sleep or the next song wouldn't play. But like I said, using the Nevo software on a PC was my favorite option.

Hello Ry-dog,

Thanks for the welcome.

The SL is showing WPA in the list of possible encryptions, but it just won't connect. I lowered to WEP and connection is now stable.
recently is purchased a DSM-320. My FUPPES server on FreeNAS does the job very wel, except that transcoding flac isn't that great. But the server mostly contactins MP3.
I haven't tried the Nevo software, as i don't want to have a windows server. FreeNAS runs on an 20W Neoware thinclient machine. And the DSM320 only uses 10W.

So far i am very happy and UPnP works very wel.
