Do you guys have any thoughts on the pros & cons of these 2 units? Each looks great, but thoughts from actual users are always best.

Thanks!

Well, they look somewhat the same, T3 is larger all the way around while Nevo SL is perfect size, for most folks hands. Nevo SL is slicker in looks. I like both a lot however the T3 doesn't come with software and it cannot learn directly. It is very much a custom installer product. The Nevo is also a custom installer product but does come with software and will learn directly.

Right now the T3 does not have wireless but I hear it will be available sometime in the next few months. The T3 and the rest of the RTI system does offer a lot of interesting options and significant expandibility and RTI in general does have the best RF system by far.

Pricewise, T3 is about 50% more expensive. The T3 has a slightly bigger screen.

Drop me a note directly if you would like more info.

the T3 does have wireless just not Wifi, If it is any indication of which i prefer i just pulled out the first three nevos i installed and swaped them with T3's. the Nevo battery life and flaky Wifi connection issues were way to much of a hassle.
The nevo has promise but in my opinion it is not there yet. ( and yes i updated the firmware)

Thanks for the comparisons guys. I'm assuming the battery life and Wifi issue are linked. In other words, if used soley IF, the battery life issue goes away as does the 'flakiness'?

WiFi is a very power hungry technology, no doubt about that. On my laptop I get 5-6 hours with WiFi off, and about 3 with it on. The latest Nevo update, 1.1 helps take care of that issue.

as an end user i had condidered the T3 but just fund it too "clunky" looking? i liked the look and feel of the Nevo much better. and having no use for wifi or RF any issues sorrounding that were moot.

T3 when in hand, is very similar to the Nevo. Beautiful screen, good ergonomics. Both first class remotes. Ive ghad RTI in my house for awhile now, and Nevo just recently, and love them both.

I still think theT3 is just a bit too big, in the hand. If you are using the Nevo SL on just wi-fi it is very good. Not sure about the earlier comment said in which the T3 has wireless just not wi-fi? I don't know what that means. Wireless what...IR?

Exactly, but wifi is a few months out I would guess.

Would take a Pronto over the Nevo without a thought.

Moving to the RTI at work due to a job change. Like the T3 so far but am still strugeling with moving over all the tricks I know for Pronto.

Nevo. Wifi option added considerable cost as you needed to do all the networking things. Then I had to become the network admin so we could access pictures and songs. My boss was way against it once I tired to demo it. I contacted UEI and they were nasty to me. They appologized later but I had no interest in paying to test there products for them. BTW They started making the unit work with products that pros use like escients. But they have a long way to go on that. Whne I got a unit it was Microsoft XP flavors only with their software running on it.

Pronto over a Nevo? A 5 year jump backwards doesn't make much sense to me. Philips has used the CI market as their beta testers too long, and the software is a pile, as is the RF.

Agee with Carl. I think the Nevo is better than the Pronto, in a lot of ways. I think the wi-fi is mostly cleaned up with the latest software. Nevo is much more interested in providing upgrades than Philips is and they will continue to improve and add features.

I also tend to see most CI's not wanting to take a lot of chances with new technology, until it is rock solid. No argument from me on that point. Call backs and all of that are expensive and remotes have always been the "weak link" in most custom-installed situations, often times due to "pilot" error.

We have sold many, many Nevo's and the unit is pretty darn solid. Have only had one bad one since June.

However, I love RTI when I need something that has the expandabilty and RF reliability.
