Has anyone out there had problems with NeoEdit or using NeoEdit deleting files from your hard drive? I have a directory on my machine called \data that got deleted when I installed NeoEdit and used it.
Anyone have this problem?

Yes, I have just bought my Neo and installed NeoEdit (version 1.3). Before doing anything else I updated the Neo's firmware to version 1.4.3. Does this have something to do with it? On trying it out I noticed NeoEdit deletes any file you request it to open. The files are gone and not moved somewhere else. I have just downloaded numerous .ncf files from the file library and was looking forward to examining them with NeoEdit. Much my disgust each file NeoEdit opened was deleted (but I had the ZIP file somewhere else). I do not know what is happening but I will be looking to upgrade to the latest version of NeoEdit (2.0?) Have you found a solution?

If you read on Philips web, you HAVE to use the newest version of NeoEdit with the latest firmware. The newest firmware is 1.4.3(2.0.3 as it is listed on the web) and Version 2.0.5 of NeoEdit.
I think that useing the older software with the newer firmware might be the cause of your problems.

You are absolutely correct! I have just upgraded to NeoEdit 2.0.5 and the problem has gone away. There must be some interaction between the firmware update program and NeoEdit that caused the catastrophic errors to occur. This is not something you would expect, but I hope everyone is forewarned from now on. Update to the latest versions and save, save, save your configurations and data.
