Thought I'd write in with my experiences with the RC3200. In the end, thanks to all the great posts here, I've been able to get it to work with my components, although it was not easy. Here are the steps I had to go through in case it is useful to someone:
Using the RC3200 learning feature, I was unable to learn the stop button for my Panasonic RP-91 DVD Player remote. In fact most of the buttons on the Panasonic were difficult to learn and by that I mean that I had to try over and over again until it learned successfully. My Sony remotes were learned with no problem whatsoever. I also was unable to learn the codes for my remote controlled light dimmer (Lutron SP-600 HT) - it appeared to learn successfully but did not work.
As is indicated in a few posts on this web site it appears that there is something about certain IR codes that the RC3200 can't learn, and of course Marantz (or whoever actually makes the RC3200) doesn't provide a library of codes, or the ability to edit the codes in their RC3200 Setup program.
I first started by trying to get the stop command for the Panasonic DVD Player from the NCF files in the ProntoNeo & RC3200 Files area. I downloaded the files as is, loaded them in NeoHacker, saved them as RC3200 NCF files, and dowloaded them to the RC3200 via the RC3200 Setup program. Everything seemed normal, but the buttons did not work. So I thought I would try copying the IR code I needed from these NCF files, and pasting it into my NCF file via NeoHacker, but for some reason I could not access the IR codes in NeoHacker.
I then went and downloaded the Philips Pronto Edit software, and then the Component CCF files (in the Pronto and RC5000 File Archive) that I needed. In Pronto Edit, I was able to view the IR codes (in hex, split into 16 bit words).
I then took the IR code I needed, and copied it into the Pronto2NeoConverter spreadsheet (
[Link: remotecentral.com]). I then took the NeoPronto code output of this spreadsheet and copied it into my NCF file via NeoHacker (
[Link: remotecentral.com]). I then downloaded it into the RC3200 via the RC3200 Setup program and voila, it works!
