(Will all the NCF files work for both the TSU501 & the SU930) .Does it make any difference which edit software i use ?.

i'd never heard of this remote until now, i think it looks better than the neo, but the button configuration isn't exactly the same as the neo, so the software may or may not reflect this, download it from philips and see.
here's pictures of both:

Thanks for your reply makitamark i have done as you suggested & downloaded the neoedit software. For some reason the neoedit program does not recognise the "device" to download the configuration files to my PC. I will try changing the setting in neoedit to see what happens.

I just picked up a 501 yesterday - my HT is downstairs, music upstairs and I kept forgetting where the remote was!

Daveds The software (Freedom Editor) is a modified version of NeoEdit. It will open (and translate) a 500 .ncf file and download to the 501 successfully. Note that NeoEdit will NOT open a 501 file - so I don't think Neoedit will work for you. Let me know if you want a copy of the software - maybe I can upload it here.

When opening a 500 .ncf in Freedom Edit it says "you will lose some features" - as far as I can tell using my existing (VERY customised) ncf files this means only that any codes you have on the "f" key (Bottom right on 500) will not translate - there is no key to directly map to this key on the 501. All else comes across and downloads fine (custom bitmaps etc. etc.)

For those interested there are good and bad things about this unit Vs the 500

Good
- the 4 hard keys directly under the screen are real keys - not the fiddly bits of plastic.
- at the top of the screen there are two additional keys that can be programmed
- the unit turns on when picked up
- there is an additional emitter that means you can hold the unit vertically when controlling - this is useful for me as I have 300 CDs coded into my unit and it means people can easily select the CD they want (hold unit vertical to read, press...)
- includes RF control although I don't use this.
- bigger memory (2 Mb). Again, I haven't explored this
- as indicated you can use existing ncf files
- transmit distance seems longer

Bad
- with the exception of the central "wheel" all the buttons are the exact same size; this means that it's easy to hit "Mute" instead of Vol up/down
- it's bigger, slightly longer and wider so a little more cumbersome to use.
- contrast seems slightly less "fine tunable" than the 500

Bottom Line: it is great for me but I'm keeping the 501 in the HT

Thanks kevmalone, i'd already downloaded NeoEdit . I found that if you open a file in NeoHacker & resave it (saves as original name with "Hacked" added to title) then i can open it in NeoEdit, however there does not seem to be any advantage using Neo Edit so i will continue using Freedom Edit.

OK - cool if you have Freedom Edit (what I was offering) - you get access to the additional keys on the unit that so it's all good.
Enjoy!

For anyone who needs it, FreedomEdit is now available for download on RC.

Does anyone have a Pronto hex code set for either a pronto, a A7rc, or a marantz rc 2300 to select Component Video Input # 2 for a Panasonic PT56wx51 CRT RPTV?

I've found one in the discrete section here, but it's huge?
Pront-Neo converter says it needs to be examined for repeats and pared down, but I can't see any repeats.

I have a successful "Component 1" hex code, and am using it with a input toggle afterwords, but I'd like to get a discrete selection.

I also have a Applied Digital Ocelot that can do Pronto to .lir files for use with it, so a single IR transmission from a remote could initiate a macro - but I still would like the discrete for component vieo input # 2.

Yeah, I took a look at those codes... for some reason they seem to be tripled. Using IR Tool to decode the code and Makehex you could likely generate a clean version that the software would be happy with.

Thanks Daniel, I was unaware of those applications - I'll look for them and give them a try.

I beat myself senseless last night and today getting various learning routines to work - I tried truncating them to partial codes, I tried learning continuous codes, I tried extending the learning distances, shortening the learning distances....

It seems I'm good to about 95% repeatability with operating my Ocelot automation controller now - which is ok with me. I get the best results if I'm further from the Xantech IR receiver than if I'm closer, which says I might simply be overwhelming the receiving elements of my Xantech to Ocelot interface, a bit of window tint masking should fix this.

So far, this TSU-501 will not be replacing my well trusted (and well worn) URC MX-500 thogh.

It had been suggested to me to try this code:
0000 006D 0000 0032 0083 0042 0010 0010 0010 0031 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010
0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0031 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010
0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0031 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0031 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0031
0010 0010 0010 0031 0010 0031 0010 0031 0010 0031 0010 0031 0010 0010 0010 0031 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0031 0010 0031
0010 0031 0010 0031 0010 0031 0010 0AED,
NEOHacker converts it to:
0 f 6c 4 61 82 10 31 42 83 3f 5f bc 2e 10 0 0 0 0 0 10 0 0 0 0 10 0 1 0 0 1 11 11 1 1 10 11 11 7c 3, which is similar, but not the same as:
0 f 6c 4 64 7c 10 30 40 80 3f 5f bc 2e 10 0 0 0 0 0 10 0 0 0 0 10 0 0 0 0 1 10 0 0 1 10 0 10 7c 3, which was what I tried earlier.

I'm not sure if I'm using NEOhacker correctly, because before moving the new code into the .ncf with NEOhacker, the command would cause my indicater light on my Xantech repeater to flicker, after I loaded the new code into NEOhacker and saving it, and loading it innto the remote with Freedomedit, the Xantech indicator light just lights up - no flicker.

I don't think I'm using NEOHacker correctly.

any advice?
