If you're having trouble learning from the rc24 remote, it might be set to RF instead of IR, to turn off the RF:

1. dtv
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9-6-1
4. press CH DOWN

No, now you can teach the commands from the RC24 directv remote to TSU500.

And if after turning off the RF on the dtv remote, the rc24 no longer controls the receiver itself, then receiver is still set to RF. If you want any universal remote to control the receiver, the receiver has to be set to IR, not RF.
