Hi,
I had purchased the marantz sr 8200 with the rc 3200 remote control in Dubai a month back. The problem is that it just blanks out suddenly even when the batteries are full & has to be reset.
The second problem is that the buttons on the onscreen display are off & are not properly calibrated. When I press the amp button it goes inside the tuner menu. The marantz store in Dubai offered another remote which had the same problems. So basically they couldn't fix the problem.
So can someone please tell me how I can fix the problem & get the remote working.

Thanks,
nitin

Well, first you can go into the setup mode and calibrate the touchscreen.

Secondly, are you sure that it is "blanking out" and that it is not just the screen shutting off? There are settings for how long you want the LCD screen to remain on and the backlight to remain on.

Hi Tkrug,
I had gone to the setup mode but couldn't find any menu for callibrating the screen. Also I am sure it blanks out because even after pressing any button the screen does not come on. Infact it hangs sometimes. Even the minus button for year adjustment does not work.
The marantz store sales person admitted to the fault.
Is it advisable to download the setup files & update it on the remote. Acutually I don't know much about setting it up but I guess I don't have any option.
Thanks a lot Tkrug for your quick reply, if there is any way around then please let me know.

cheers,
nitin

I believe that setup mode has three pages which you can scroll through using the buttons on the side of the remote. I think the calibration is on page 2 or 3.

The next step I would do is to download and install the latest firmware for the remote.

Hi Tkrug,
The first page of the setup is pertaining to Lcd, Backlight & Beep timing, the second page is for year/month settings & the third page is for memory usage info & information regarding configuration file versions. So I guess it may not be possible to recalibrate the screen from the remote itself.
Thanks anyways I will try downloading the latest firmware versions & from where do I get RC_EDIT program ?

Cheers,
Nitin

I am certain that there is a calibration button. I'll check when I get home....

The latest firmware should either be on the marantz website or in the files section here.

thanks Tkrug,
I guess the consumer gets more help from the forum members than the Marantz store( V.V & sons, Dubai). Their attitude is a big dissappointment considering the fact that the consumer is paying for a perfectly working piece.

on the 3rd page of the setup mode there is a large button at the top that says CALIBRATE (just above the version info).

Try installing the latest firmware and calibrating the remote and see if that does the trick.

I have the Pronto Neo version so they have different version numbers.....but I can't believe they would make the 3200 without a calibrate button. That makes no sense to me....

Hi Tkrug,
Your version must be different. You can check in the Marantz SR8200 manual, the page 3 of the setup menu has no calibrate button. I'll check the latest software version. Thanks.

I don't know what version you are using but page 3 on my RC3200 has a huge calibrate button right at the top of the page. I am using RC3200 Setup v1.4.6.0. I got all my software and firmware from this site. Try upgrading.

There are 2 different hardwareversions out there. The old one is bundled with Marantz sr 8200 / 8300. With this RC 3200 its very hard to learn codes. AFAIK it is labeled with "Made in Belgium". The newer one with a new chipset that lesrns much better is labelt with "Made in Indonesia". Maybe this explains the missing calibrate button.

Unless there are two "Made in Belgium" versions, this isn't the deciding factor: my RC3200 sports both a "Made in Belgium" label and a Calibrate button.

Version specifications from Setup mode pg. 3:
Boot V2.34b
System V2.0.1
App. 1.1.4.2
