Hi,

I'm a newbie on the forum and hope, that you will be able to help me on a (maybe) little problem:

A few days ago I got a ProntoNEO from ebay and have now problems to learn codes from my Yamaha remote control.

I tried to learn codes by using learn mode from the NEO, but the receiver accepts only a very few ones from the NEO.
On second step I used the NCF file for the RX-V630 from files section.
No or nearly no function as well.

Is this problem known here and has anybody a solution for it or some good ideas ?

Thanks a lot for your help in advance.

Kind regards from Germany

First, I would try relearning the commands directly from the original remote. Have you tried all of the learning tips mentioned on this forum?
Put new batteries in both remotes (especially the original).
Try holding the remotes at different distances from each other.
Try holding the remotes at different angles to each other.
Try tapping the button on the original remote ONCE QUICKLY.
Try holding down the button on the original remote.

Hi Tim, hello community,

I tried the tipps Tim me gave. Perfect !!!

I used new batteries and tapped the buttens on the Yamaha remote once quickly and ......

it worked.

Nevertheless I found small disadvantages of the ProntoNEO:

After tapping a button I have to wait a short time before tapping the next one.
Also increasing and decreasing volume continously by pushing the button for a longer time is not possible.
I have to tap the button to modify the volume by one step, wait and he tap it again for the next step.

Boring.

Do you know a way to avoid this and bring function closer to original remote ?

Best regards

Alexander

As for the wait time you are experiencing....make sure that you have removed any unneccessary delays from all of your buttons. By default buttons seem to have a .1 second delay. You should only have delays on buttons that are macros and contain multiple commands. For the normal numbers, volume, channel, etc there should just be the IR command.

The volume buttons sometimes seem to be unpredictable. Sometimes I can press and hold them and they work, other times I have to keep pressing them. I believe the problem is that the remote is in "standby mode" (off) most of the time. If you press and hold the volume key while in standby all it will do is "wake up" the remote and light up the screen but not increase/decrease the volume. However, if you then press and hold the button again it should work properly.

Give this a try and report back....

Hello,

here is my report regarding to volume buttons.

On both items (TV and receiver) it is not possible to hold the button and to decrease or increase volume in a wide range.
E.g. on the receiver I press the button, the volume decrases by 0.5 db and decreasing stops. I have to release the button, wait a short moment and press it again to decrease by another 0.5 db. this procedure is the same all the time and on both devices (TV and receiver as well).

Any idea ?

Kind regards

Alexander
