Just installed new Bravo DVD player. Great PQ on a Sony Grand WEGA via DVI input!

Imagine my surprise when during the movie, after I pressed the volume down on my Pioneer VSX-812K receiver, the Bravo's DVD drawer opened. I thought that is odd. I have found five IR commands that the Bravo appears to share with the Pioneer receiver.

This makes having these two components in the same system impossible. I thought this was not supposed to happen. Are the manufacturers running out of unique IR codes? Did VInc just screw up?

there is nothing that forces uniqueness, and if there are two codes that are close enough sometimes they might appear the same (each device accepts some variability)

Welcome to the real world.....

Its true that there are milions of remote code posibilities out there, but manufactuers tend to stick with using other peoples protocals more times than not.... WHile It is unusual to get overlapping codes, its not unheard of..... Just recently I discovered that Loewe TV's are crossing over to several Marantz Receiver Codes......

Makes seling Marantz receivers with Loewe TV's very dificult......

Look to see if one for your components has more than one set of codes. I have to switch one of my panasonic DVD players to the second set.

I call them false cognates (sp). If you ever had to take spanish you understand why. The word sounds close enough to a word in the other language and that is the translation.

DVI switches. Geffen.. (you pricks). I have emailed and called them about this and get no responce.

Input 1 / Have not tripped over the cognate yet.
Input 2 / Hughes Directv #7
Input 3 / Hughes Directv # 8 or 9 can't remember at the moment but emailed the list to them.
Input 4 /Samsung DVD repeat
