Folks I purchased my MX800 URC from them whilst in the US over the internet (I am based in Australia).
I haven't used my mx-800 editir software for a long time (running version 1.12.267)
I tried to get a download update from the toolbar icon and get a message stating URC no longer supports this model and to contact my dealer?
I can't recall the dealer and am puzzled as to what to do to resume my ability to get updates.
Whats going on?? Have I missed something, has URC dropped support for the MX800?

Alec, You can download a non-updateable version, see first post of this thread, however you will need your serial number located in the battery compartment. In order to get the updateable version you will need to contact your dealer or call URC at 800-901-0800 and plead your case. If you would like more information regarding this policy please reference the following monster thread:

Call URC, expalin the situation. They seem to be helpful lately in this regard. Usually calling is more effective than email.
Don't bother with the monster thread unless you have something to argue about the policy. If you're just looking for SW, posting here is fine.

If you are having a problem and your concern is legitamate, do a search in the AVSforum remote section. There are plenty of updateable software providers.

Can anyone help me get the software. I have a MX-800 but it doesn't have any kind of sticker under the batteries and I can't find a serial number anywhere. I had the software on my old PC but not on my new one.

We just signed with URC as an authorized dealer. What we were told is that if you buy the remote from an authorized reseller they can (we will) send you the fully updateable software for the remotes that you purchase. This is one of the ways they're trying to help their authorized dealers compete over unauthorized guys.
Their really is no reason to buy URC from an unauthorized reseller.

The operative word in your statement above is "can". URC does not "require" AD's to supply the updateable s/w. This is the reason that is very important to choose your AD wisely.

If anyone is having trouble getting software for your remote, simply open the battery compartment, note the serial number, then navigate to this site: [Link: universalremote.com]Best Regards, -Eric Eric, I opened up my remote's battery compartment and entered the serial number on the website, but it appears I'm missing some numbers. My serial number's format is xxxx-xxxxxx, but the serial number field is also asking for a digit or two to the left of these numbers. In addition, I bought my remote about four years ago, and can't find the paper work where I bought it from and consequently can't fill out the second portion of the form. Am I SOL or do I have any options?

Any idea where I can get a copy of the MSC-400 software? Been on the phone with UR several times and they keep pointing me to their dealers. Thats great and all, but the dealers don't seem willing to part with a copy (and why would they).
Bought my MX-900 and MSC-400 from someone on ebay that had a custom install, and then ripped it all out and went with some other solution. They guy hasn't sold any other remote hardware EVER, so I'm pretty sure its legit. I know this situation has been discussed to death but I'm hoping someone with a copy will just email it to me.
Regardless of where you stand on the issue, you must admit that is absurd to coerce me into buying another MSC-400 from an authorized dealer just to get a copy of the software. At which time I would of course promptly return the new MSC-400.
Anyone wanna help a brother out? pretty please.
