With the recent changes by URC to their Complete Control series, it would seem appropriate for us at Remote Central to split our forums into two separate topics, to better reflect the company's dual market strategy.

First will be a new forum targeted to all of their Complete Control branded products including the MX-350, MX-650, MX-850, MX-900, MX-950, TX-1000 and MX-3000, plus the new MSC-400. It will be the place to discuss advanced programming, variables, graphic techniques, troubleshoot any integration issues and so forth.

This second, existing, forum will be repositioned to cover all of URC's consumer models, such as the R5, R7, RF-10, RF-20, RF-30, URC-100, URC-200 and URC-300 - along with all forthcoming consumer remotes (hint, hint). This forum will also continue to cover legacy Home Theater Master products including the SL-7000, SL-8000, SL-9000, MX-500, MX-600, MX-700, MX-800 and MX-1000... although I expect that there may be a bit of cross-traffic on the MX-700 and MX-800.

So, if you have a new question relating to one of URC's Complete Control models, be sure to post it in the new Complete Control forum.

Also, please note that any topics relating to URC's new policies should remain here - although I feel at this point that anything that can be said has already been said.

Great idea, Daniel!

I've posted in the new Complete Control section, and it seems I also have the honour of posting first in this thread!

Let's all move along and support the people using URC's remotes in the best way we can!

Greg :-)

There are currently some active topics with good information in this forum that should be moved to the new forum. Who is able to move topics to other forums? If you'd like help, I'll volunteer to be a thread mover for existing topics and new topics which may incorrectly end up here.

Daniel's really the only "moderator" on this site, and it's probably his duty.

Daniel,

The changes look great! Everyone at URC will continue to participate in both forums.

I see there still has been no update to the MX3000 programing manual since 2004.
I understood the company was going to rewrite it so dumb people like me could learn to programe their expensive investment!

OK, anyone else realizing that this split was a really bad idea? I mean, if they were listed right next to each other like the Pronto forums it wouldn't be that bad, but I see questions about the 950 and 3000 in this forum, and the 700 in the other forum.

The way I see it, why split up the MX800 from the MX850? They're identical remotes.

No, I don't think it was a bad idea. They're seperate product lines. And the 800 and 850 are different remotes. The 850 is overall much better than the 800.

They're identical remotes.

I think that slowly the threads in each forum will be about the remotes that belong in them.

You might still see the DIY'ers posting here about their Control Remotes, just as you see some posts in the Pronto forum where the question is asked in the wrong forum.

Besides redesigning the arrow buttons and changing the color, tell my why a question about the 800 should be in a separate forum from the 850?

If anything, the forums should be broken up into PC programmable remotes, and non-PC programmable remotes. A programming question about the 700 is just as much related to the 800 and 850.

We would like to get more information on how IR Codes work, programing, designing, and how we can retrieve the IR codes from the manufactures.

Also, we are using the Universal Remote Control MX-850 with the 250 transmitter. We have a Samsung HL-R6168 TV and Samsung HD-950. The TV has a anynet port and GLINK. Can we use one of these ports and plug them into the IR output of the transmitter? We would like to avoid using the IR emmitters that stick to each devices IR emmitter.
