After 4 long months of waiting I have finally received my MX1000. I just got it today and I have not had a chance to use much yet. My first impressions are:
- Size is just right
- Buttons are placed perfectly
- Feels balanced
- Plastic case has a nice textured feel
- Good quality construction
- Menus and pages transition with good speed.
- LCD graphics are clean (nice 3D buttons in some menus)
- Documentation is not detailed enough. I got a little confused with their explanations for learning remote programming.
After I have spent some more time using the remote I will make another post with more observations.

Just ordered MX-1000 from Crutchfield ( www.crutchfield.com) for $279.95 + $9.95 for standard 2nd day. They had it in stock.

Just got mine today, also from Crutchfield. It's great! A bit hard to program buttons and things, and even text editting is kind of tough, but you can do the basics for now until the s/w comes out.
By the way, some people have complained that command, esp from the joystick, are not always registered properly. It seems that the beep comes before the command is actually sent, so always press the button/stick for a little bit longer than the beep to ensure the command is sent.
Con: can't make a macro of the power button...

What! You can't make a macro of the power button? I thought the only buttons you couldn't program were the "main", "page" and "light" buttons. What's the point of having a power button that you can't use to turn your system on with one button push. If that's true they must have monkeys designing these things. Unbelievable!

For some odd reason, macros can only be applied to LCD-based buttons.

That's odd considering that their own SL-900 will allow you to put macros on the power button.

Any chance the PC software could fix this problem through future releases? Any input from Mike Gifford would be appreciated.

It's certainly possible, but if I understand correctly the software right now won't let you break out of the current functional mold.
