LuckMan212,

Please give URC a call. They are very service oriented.
If you are comfortable with how to pop the remote open,
I'll bet they'll be happy to send the pieces. There might
be a small charge, but if my dealings with them are typical,
you'll get the pieces for free.

Don't worry about trying to convince them if it's widespread,
etc. This is the kind of company that it doesn't matter
if it's one customer or 2000. With this kind of issue,
I'll bet they make it right.

URC will not sell the parts to repair this problem on your own. I called them just yesterday and they said I had to ship the remote to them for repair at a cost of $30. As cheap as they are now on Flea Bay it is cheaper to just get a replacement remote and keep the sticky one for parts. It is too bad URC does not stand by their products as we all know they knew there was a problem with the MX-700's coating but now they are trying to get another $30 from us to correct their mistake.
BTW I am in Florida.

Has anyone found a solution to this? Yeah, this is an old thread, but I just saw this problem after seeing it at home.

A client has an MX880 that's disgusting. People may ruin the finish by putting something on it, but I have an MX-850 that's gooey as hell and has just been sitting open. No cleaners or anything.

Do I have to charge my client for a new URC remote because URC doesn't have a solution for the surfaces they sell?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Haven't tried it myself but others have said WD40 works well for this issue.

I successfully cleaned my sticky MX-500s and posted about it here:
