It's not listed on their website. Is it similar to the manual for the MX950?

Yes, if you disregard the extra features of the MX-950.

We'll soon have a combined manual that covers the MX900, TX1000 and MX950. Since the software is nearly identical we train people on programming steps 1 through 8 with the MX900 and then just show the additional features in the TX1000 and MX950. The bulk of the programming process is the same.

Thanks. That's what I thought from looking over it.

How long before that manual is available? I'm hoping to be ordering my 900 very soon, and would like the newer manual. I'm not up to speed enough yet to know all of the differences between the 900 and 950's capabilities.

John,

I'm glad you decided to go with the 900. You won't regret it. As far as programming goes, the software is relatively easy to use and you can pretty much figure everything out just by messing around with it for a little while. Plus, you can always come here for guidance if you are having trouble getting it to do what you want. As you have already seen, people on this forum are generally quite friendly and quick to lend a helping hand. :)

Yea, I've made up my mind on the 900. I'm looking forward to it. I just d/l the software, and the first thing I noticed is that the Dish (Echostar) 942 isn't in the list (neither is the 622). So now I'm off to see what I can find for codes and how to use the codes once I find them.

I think you can import HEX now in the editor. I am suprised that the Dish stuff isnt in there.

I ran into the Dish network problem yesterday. It was a basic model 311. It wasn't in the list and none of the codes worked at all. I've had this crop up at the worst times with equipment that should be in the list with clean codes.

I was working with a Charter Moxi Box last week and none of the codes in the DB worked either..its a motorola BMC9012 none of the moxi codes worked, none of the motorola codes worked or none of the charter codes worked, I had to learn them all from scratch

only added another hour to the install, and to add it it has been awhile since I worked with a MX3000

we have a job next week with Dish and its a new DVR but we will be using RTI on it so it should be quick

After installing the editor, it looks like there's a programming manual in C:\Program Files\Universal Remote Control, Inc\MX-900 Editor.

I'm guessing the updated one mentioned earlier will be different though.

While it would be nice for us MX-900 owners to have a programming manual that at least mentions the MX-900 and discusses its specific features, I have to admit I was able to do pretty much everything I wanted just by reading the MX-950 manual. This from a newbie who's never before owned an URC. The software is sooo much better than that for the Harmony 880 that I ended up returning.

ng,

I agree. I got the basics of it down pretty quickly. I still need to find out how to import commands that are downloaded.

I copied some commands for a config file that some had uploaded, by using drag and drop. But I'm not sure if I can import hex commands or not.

So far the only gripe I have at all is that I'm surprised their database isn't more up to date. The Dish 942 has been out for quite a few months, as has the Denon 1920. However, I don't mind having to "teach" the new remote the commands. It just takes a little more time. Also, I plan on posting all the devices that I have to teach my remote. Maybe it will save someone else some time.
