I am currently programming a system for a friend who lives about 35 miles away and has no computers at home and my laptop unfortunately doesnt offer a serial port so I can mess with this mx850 while on the road. I just want to make sure I hit the nail on the head the first time. I ended up using "input+a number" to go direct to comp1 etc. I am using a HK receiver avr340 which seems to be a pain in the ace as far as locating the IR adapter. But I went to the store the other day and picked up some 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapters so I can hook this up direct to the IR in on the back of the receiver just like I have it at home. The dvd player is HK and seemed to operate perfectly with discretes etc. Thanks

If you are using an MRF-200/250 and you are trying to connect directly to an IR input of a component, you NEED a resistor. The MRF-200/250 wasn't designed for that type of operation, so you risk damaged equipment if you do not use one.

Now, in response to your main question...

I know many Panasonic CRT TVs allow you to press "TV/VIDEO" to get a list of numbered inputs. If you press the corresponding number of one of the inputs listed, it goes to that input. That is the best way to program the remote, if there are no discrete input commands on the remote.

Thank you,
Damon DG

Damon -- The information re the resistor is a new one to me. Can you provide more info? -- I have the MRF-250 connected to a Denon AVR-3805 and thence to a Denon DVD-2200. I don't recall seeing anything in the MRF manual except that one would need an adapter plug - which I got>

Thanks,

Craig
