Probably already answered, but I can't find it. In any case, when you set up the MX-850 to learn in stand-alone mode you also have a "Fav" option on the setup screen. Tha manual from 2+ years ago indicates that "Fav" and "Scan" would be implemented later. "Scan" is no longer there. "FAV" sets one up with a series of steps, but I am unclear how to use this function - or if it is even usable.

Thoughts???

Craig,

What you would want to do is go to the device that changes your channels, then enter in the channel with a delay between each digit. For example: sat...2...delay...0...delay...2.

Let me know if that does the trick for you.

Thank you,
Damon DG

Damon -- I appreciate the reply, but I must be doing something wrong??. The procedure you suggest sounds like what one might do using the editor, and I have done that. The stand alone "FAV" is the one that comes up after the 10+ sec pressing of "Main" along with "ent". I don't really see how to select a device. Numbers are easy, but "delay"???. One can put in a long sequence of numbers, with increasing "Step #'s" at the bottom of the screen, but no obvious way to exit or store -- even if one could identify the device.

Is there any published documentation of this "feature"?? :-)

According to the documentation the FAV feature is not able to be modified with standalone learning. The doc states it may be available in the future....maybe now is the future I don't know...I always just use the mx-editor and I have to ask why are you not doing the same?

If it helps here is how the 600 gets it done:

Favorite Channel Setup
Enter SETUP mode by pressing and holding both MAIN and ENT
for three seconds.
Note: You have 30 seconds for each step, otherwise the Omega will time
out automatically.
Press the FAV display button.
The top of the display will show “FAV”. The bottom of the display
will flash “SELECT”.
Use the PAGE or FAV buttons until you can see the name (i.e., ABC,
CBS, NBC) of the favorite channel you wish to setup.
Press the favorite channel button you wish to setup. The top of the
screen changes to show the channel name. The bottom of the
screen displays “STEP0”, indicating that you have not entered the
channel number yet.
Press either the TV, SAT or CABLE Device button (select the device you
use to enter channel numbers).
Press each of the number buttons for the channel.
Note: Some brands of television (for example: SONY) require an
ENT(Enter) command after the channel numbers for the favorite macro to
work correctly.
Note: If a number is repeated when setting the channel (for example, channel
“33” or “522”) it is usually best to set a half second delay in between the
identical numbers by pressing the PAUSE button. Each press of the PAUSE
button increases the delay by a half second.
Press the Channel UP button to SAVE your macro. The screen
returns to the SETUP menu.
Press the MAIN button twice to return to normal operation.
Use the PAUSE Button to set
delays between steps, each press
of the pause button increases the
delay by a half second.

The procedure suggested by "Tweeterguy" works fine!

Thanks for the input.
