We are currently trying to get the Home Theater Master MX-850 to operate the most simple power command on the Hitachi 42HDF52 plasma's. To this point it's been very frustrating, it works intermittently at best. The Factory remote works fine. The "Service Tech" told me that these are Very touchy Plasma's and may not work with a Universal Remote. This is a huge project we are doing (40 Plasma's in seperate time-share units) and don't want to have to leave the factory remote for the "renters" to use. Has anyone else had this problem? The only other issues we have ever had with learning a simple command was with scientific Altalnic Cable boxes, which required the use of the " IR Remodulator" which fixed the problem. Hope someone else out there has seen this problem with the Hitachi Plasma42HDS52. Please Help!! All we want to do is turn the display on and off!! " I just wanna watch TV!!" Please post here or email me directly.

Did you try the preprogrammed database codes? If the specific model is not in the database, try a similar model's codes.

Yes the database code does not work either. Everyone at our company with many many years of programming experience has tried every trick we know and then some!

Do you have a MX-700 or MX-800? If you do, try learning the codes with one of those remotes. If it works, you can use the MX Editor's Universal Browser to copy the codes to the 850 config.

The 700 and 800 use different learning techniques than the 850. I keep a 800 around because it can learn codes that the 850 cannot.

If still no luck, call URC and see what they suggest.

I have experienced similar problems with the HDF52 series plasmas. I lost an account with a builder because of this stupid TV. It is total BS that Hitachi can build a product that sucks so bad. Alos, there is no RS232.

On the MX3000 i tried increasing and decreasing the repeats, with no avail.
