I have a fully functional system and there is a weird problem with the remote using RF.

I can use the Emulator connected via USB to the remote and everything works great... Unhook USB, and regular remote works for like 2 minutes, then RF seems to die.

I've set the RF base unit (model 250) to different ID's - doesn't help.

Have you assigned the RF code ID in the software??
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

If the "status" light on the MRF is blinking or on at all when the remote is not sending commands, you have RF interference. You are better off using an MRF-300.

Thank you,

This installation worked for a year, and began acting funny.

I have verified everything works via IR - Only, so that's good.

I have setup the RF / ID Codes...

The MRF-250's STATUS light is off, no interference.
The power light is on.
The status light flashes when RF commands are sent.

It's like there isn't any IR coming from ports 1-6 or the front of the MRF-250, though it looks like the MRF is receiving requests.

Did you go back and set the ID to 0 then watch the status light? The installation may have worked for a year, but there could be some new interference in the house or neighborhood. It would be very unusual to have no IR from the ports or the blaster.

First I would set ID to 0 check for interference.

The next thing I would do is get a flashing emitter and splice it to a 2.5 mm plug and see if there is any IR coming from the ports.

Different IDs won't help, it doesn't change frequency or anything, it is just an identifier to tell the MRF if it should "listen up" or not.

The thing that baffles me is that it would work while connected via USB. Are you pressing buttons on the remote when it works, or are you clicking on buttons from the emulator?

You may also want to try loading a default program, let it reboot, then reload your program. You could also try a new simple program with a few devices and no macros, maybe the program has become corrupt.

Thanks Ericjb.

I'm on ID 0, and all appears clear on the STATUS lite.

I am not receiving any IR out of the ports - I've verified this.

I have fully reset the unit to defaults (by pressing and holding MENU button for 5+ seconds and doing factory reset) then download program.

I have to make a correction: RF doesn't work with USB/Emulator as I thought.

What I did was order another MRF-250 because I think it has been progressively dying - because the problem has been getting worse over past 3 months. Usually full resets and re-download of application.
