I have a MX 650 with a Xantech ir repeater system "trying to control" a H 20 box. The response is sluggish, I have meved the emitter, tried covering the eye and still crappy response. The actual remote that came with the box seems to be having problems as well. I almost think that it might be the box itself. Please reply with any questions or comments that would be helpful. Thanks.

Call DirecTV and have them replace the H20.

I have a couple of tests to do first, but that probably will be done.

Here is what is happening now. All of my other equipment in the rack is working perfectly. I have moved the emitter location a hundred times but i get the same result from the H 20. If I stand at the back of the room or if I point the remote towards the back of the room from the normal viewing location the remote works perfectly, but if I point the remote at the tv, nothing. I have tried everything that I have read and been told. I have tried resistors, diodes, black tape, and none of these have seemed to change anything. This is totally driving me crazy. Somebody please give me an answer or something else I can try. Remember this is just an IR repeater system not a RF system.

Hmmm...so it works line of sight, but not with the repeater. Try using that emitter on another component. Maybe the emitter is bad. Alternately, take the emitter off the component and move it straight back away from the IR sensor until the H20 responds. See if you are over or under-saturating the sensor. I tried all that. Here is what I did to solve my problem. I simply added a MRF 300 tweaked it a little bit and removed the IR repeater. I have perfect control now.
