Does any one by chance have a fully functioning IR file for the Outlaw 990 Preamp? I have tried all of the Sherwood and Outlaw files, and while some of the buttons will work, others will not. I have tried to learn them in, and all but the Volume keys work properly. The Volume will not continually repeat while holding them down.
I have tried both a short press and a long press while learning, Multiple different angles, as well as being in a totally dark room with no light interference. I even had my wife click the "Learn" key on the PC from outside the closet (Yes, I was in the closet...Just not like Tom Cruise and John Travolta are :-) ).

So far nothing has worked. I have also tried learning it into other remotes that I have, and I have the same problem. Other remotes are an MX1000, MX850, & an MX700.
All seem to be having the same problem.

Thanks
Justin

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. It isn't a huge rush as it is in my personal system and I won't have a client having to deal with it.
Thanks

Damon at ProRemotes helped me by describing the short taps learning method for the volume keys on a simple Yamaha RX-496. (Steve Garn eventually emailed me a file with the learned codes because I was tap challenged. I've since used the technique successfully.)

Tap the volume up/down key four or five time during each learn cycle. From my experience, you'll need the remotes on a hard surface so you can tap and keep them properly oriented.

For others who understand the internals of remotes, does this tap method allow the remote to see toggle bits in the IR codes?

I'm not an expert on the codes , but you're talking about two different things. Toggle bit commands change each time they're used, "toggling" between two states. The "relearning" feature of the Editor software allows you to learn many toggle bit commands. Repeating commands can usually be learned just by holding down the button on the remote you're learning from while learning. If that doesn't work, the rapid tap (flutter) method allows the remote to see the code repeated.
