I am looking for a new remote for my home theater. I was leaning towards a MX-650. Would anyone make any other recommendations?
Equipment
Theater room:
BenQ projector Harmon-Kardon receiver Dish Network HD receiver DVD player CD player Leviton IR light switch
Family room:
65" Mitsubishi rear projection Harmon-Kardon receiver Dish Network HD receiver DVD player Leviton IR light switch
I would like a remote for each room. Maybe the 650 for the theater room and another lesser expensive model in the family room.
What model would you recommend? I would like to keep the remote in the mid $100 range if possible.
Thanks,
Mike

While it adds an initial level of complexity, I find the ability to program via PC to be invaluable. I had an MX-500 for years, and ended up learning all of my devices from scratch because the built-in database was never arranged to my liking. I pretty much never used macros, because getting them set up and tweaked in the MX-500 was such a bear.
You'll still have issues with the default databases, and you'll still find that you have to tweak macros, but it's so much easier in the editor software. For that reason, I'd consider stepping up from the MX-650.

I'd go with the MX-850 as well, but if you don't need RF and don't want to spend the money for an 850, you could get the same functionality with an MX-700. Persoanlly, I would go with an 850 for the theater room and a 650 or 350 for the family room. If you wanted to keep the cost down, an MX-700 for the theater room and an MX-500 or URC-200 for the family room. Mike www.SurfRemoteControl.com
