I have has two MX-700s for a couple of years, and love them...BUT...
the center "select" button of the 5-way thumbwheel has stopped working on both remotes. I've looked into it, and apparently the button has "worn out" (for lack of a better technical explanation). When I press it an ir code seems be sent as the button is released instead of when it is pressed, and nothing happens.

Anyway, I have not been keeping up to date on the world or remotes, so I just saw a picture of a MX-650. It looks exactly like my MX-700s, except the center "select" button is separate from the thumbwheel. It looks like the MX-650 also has rf capability (which is not an issue for me). Other than that, what are the differences between the MX-700 and 650? I'm looking for the least expensive way to replace my MX-700s without giving up any functionality.

The MX-650 is not PC programmable, the MX-700 is. Big difference.

Call URC (914) 835-4484 and ask about getting the MX-700 repaired. You might be surprised about the cost.

I progarmmed the "10+" button on my MX-700 as a shortcut to the center "Select" button. Works great and much easier to use.
