I just connected the MRF-300 to my equipment. The main reason was that I wanted the ability to program long macros in my MX-3000 and execute them without having to hold the remote in front of the equipment for about two minutes that it takes to execute the macro.

The macro works absolutely fine with the IR piece (i.e without the MRF-300 when the remote is held in front of the equipment).

The problem is that this is not working with MRF-300. After making the connections, I took the remote to another room (where I could see the RFX-150 sensor, but I made sure that I was not in the line of sight with the equipment. When I press the macro button, the red light on RFX-150 blinks each time a command is sent - confirming that the commands are being communicated to RFX-150. But only half the commands are actually sent to the equipment. The receiver turns on, TV turns on, TV DOES NOT go to the right input, DVD DOES NOT turn on.

Does anyone know what could be happening here. Could this be an issue with delay times? Are the "delay" times different when sent via RF? Everything works fine directly via IR.

I will appreciate any help.

Thanks !

I would actually imagine that the TV would normally receive an IR signal as it is not too likely to be behind solid doors inside a cabinet like the rest of the stuff.

Do you set each device to RF? I mean, does the DVD not turn on, but if you go back in and hit POWER, then walk out, it will respond to other commands? Is this a total failure of all DVD commands, or a failure of a couple? Those would be different problems.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Hey there....so there are many possible answers to your questions about the MRF. You may be suffering from 1 or more of the following problems.

RF interference
Emmiter saturation
Ir Gain to low on the MRF-300
rf gain to low on the RFX
No delay or inproper delay time on the macro

RF ....make sure your running your mrf box on an ID setting other than zero. Confirm that in the RF mode that you see both the light blink on the rfx, but as well on the MRF box. It should blink when you hit the button and stop when you take your finger off.

Emmiter saturation (ir gain)....Sometimes the emmiter will be too close to the IR input window of your device.....in previous models of the base station, this was fixed by backing the bug off the front of the device a bit. URC has solved this issue by putting an adjustable gain on each of the 6 ir ouputs. You need to mess with the gain to get it perfect.

You need to add delay times to the macro. Sometimes this will cause instability in the running of the macro...most certianlly in the RF mode. Ive also had success with changing the order in which the commands are sent.

Try a few of these things and when in doubt....you can call URC tech support and they can fully run you through a RF troubleshooting checklist. Good luck and i hope some of this info helps!
