I have just got a mx700 after years of success with the mx500. I am having trouble with playing back macros. It seems like a simple macro will work when I download it to the remote but it will not work when I play it back via the simulator. It appears to send out consistently incorrect signals. This is making troubleshooting a pain.I have tried two different laptops and have the same results on both.

Am I doing something stupid?

I have been having issues with my laptop and communicating with all MX product. I can no longer test simple IR codes without downloading anymore. I am not sure what the issue is, I have done some updates but no help, I have done a reinstall and no help. I just learned to live with it for now.

try reseting remote and redownloading your file. You can reset by holding down stop and main for about 20 seconds then hitting "All" in the top left corner. I always do this before installing the FINAL revision of my programming.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it with no luck.

Any other suggestions?

what serial to usb adapter are you using? I used to constantly fight to get these things programmed and tested until I switched to a pcmcia card adapter. its the only thing that reliably works, that i have found

do you know how to start the macro at the begining? Highlight the command where you want to start then click test.

Remember with the 700, 800, and 850 it seems that the devices need to be downloaded to the remote before the macros can be tested. In other words, create the devices first, then download them to the remote and make sure the devices are working. After the devices are sucessfully created and working, make and test your macros. Then download the remote again.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had realized about highlighting. I was also trying out different sections of the macro by starting in different places

Thanks for the help. I will try it tonight when I get home. I seems a shame if this is the case. It would be much more user friendly if you could make it work before you spend the minute downloading.

I tried downloading the macro to the remote and then tried running the macro from the simulator with no success.

Anyone got any ideas?

I think he's being facisous. He's suggesting you get a hammer and smash the remote.

He's joking I'm sure.

Well he has a point. I have to say with this issue and the lack of transport buttons on the mx-700, it makes the mx500 look like a star

The last time I had this problem with a MX-850, and this probably doesn't apply to instance, it was with a new remote right out of the box. The problem went away after replacing the batteries with fresh ones, but it did have me confused for a few minutes due to the sometimes it worked then it wouldn't work behaviour.

Cheers

I tried new batteries and no luck.

Is anyone able to play their macros via the simulator?
