I am a rookie user of the MX 3000 and my original remote was programmed for me.

I am switching from cable dvr to satellite hd dvr (for nfl ticket). I have been succesful changing buttons and formats, but I still cannot figure out how to load an entirely new device onto the remote. I have assumed that there is somewhere I can download an entire device with of the accurate buttons preloaded and then port them to the remote.

My end goal is to download the program for the new dvr. I am more than willing to do the necessary research, but am hoping one of you kind users can point me in the right direction.

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP!

Graham

I am a rookie too, but maybe this can help. Go to the Program menu and select Pre-programmed IR database. See if the make and model of your new component is in there. If it is, that should give you all of the IR codes for all of the buttons on the remote that came with it. Then pick each button on your new layout and select the corresponding code and hit "save one code". Might take 5 minutes to do all of the buttons.
I am sure an expert may have a better answer but maybe this can get you buy in the meantime.
Good Luck

Try this,
1. Right-click on DEVICE in the left pane tree view, click Add New Device from the pop-up menu. You will see a new device at the bottom of the list.
2. Right-click the new device and select rename. Give it a name.
3. Now click Program at the top of the window, and select 'Create Button Layout'. A new window will open, at the bottom there are three list-boxes.
4. Pick the new device in the left one
5. Pick a template from the middle one (i.e. DVD for DVD, TV for TV etc)
6. Pick a skin from the right one
7. Click ADD for a new device, or overwrite to change an existing device
8. Click CLOSE

The benefit to doing it this way is that the buttons all have an IR ID so when you open the preprogrammed database and click Save All, the correct command is assigned to the correct button. This is much faster than assigning them one at a time, especially when there are 50 - 75 codes
There are 10 types of people in this world,
There are those who understand binary,
and those who don't!

Thank you, Vincent and EricJB. This was very helpful. I have succesfully loaded the new device, but am having difficulty locating the preprogrammed file for this HD DVR. The actual device is from DirectTV and I believe the model is HD DVR HR10-250.

Are there any other sources I can find that may have already preprogrammed the Direct TV HD DVR?

If not, I believe I can just program each button via the "learn" mode.

Thanks again for all of the help. I appreciatte it!

First, make sure you do a live update to get the latest version of MX-3000 Editor.

Go to the pre-programmed IR database panel in the MX-3000 Editor.
Select-
Device: (device you created)
IR Data from: DVR
Brand: DIRECTV
Model: HR10-250
Click Save All button.
