Hey guys,

I've had my B&K 10.1 (rebadged MX-700) for awhile and had it programmed to be functional, but not super sleek. I'm trying to come up with an overall design that allows my somewhat tech challenged wife to be able to run the theater room from the get go, and turn everything off when she's done.

I KNOW that this issue has to come up alot with most of us, so I was wondering how you went about solving the issue. I'm not real happy with my solution right now, but here it is:

Main Page 1 - Has buttons that take you to each of the 5 main components in the room, DVD, SAT, LIGHTS, DLP, B&K RECEIVER/
This page also has a macro assigned to the ON and OFF buttons which are programmed to act as SYSTEM ON and SYSTEM OFF buttons. The SYSTEM ON macro sets up everything as if I wanted to watch a DVD on the DLP... which is what we do the most in there.

Main Page 2 - Has one button on it, WATCH. You hit this button and it takes you to a new page with two choices, DVD or SAT. Hitting DVD sets up everything to watch a dvd (exactly the same as the main SYSTEM ON macro), which the SAT button sets everything up to watch satellite.

Like I said... this is functionally ok, but not sleek at all, IMHO, and requires a few too many button pushes (like always having to hit the MAIN button to take you back to the main page 1 so you can turn off the system).

So, how are people handling this in their rooms? Do you have macros to turn everything off on each of your device pages or do you always have to do the MAIN->OFF thing for SYSTEM OFF?

Let me know what you're thoughts are, as I'd love to hear different people's solutions!

Thanks and regards,
Jeff

Thanks, Chad. I've been scouring the archives, but was not looking for non MX-700 threads... hence I missed this one. I found another good one here as well, just in case others might be looking. It's basic, but it brings up some very good points about programming:

Thanks again,

Chad... thanks A MILLION! That is a great thread and I want to apologize for not having found it before posting my own thread on the subject. I hadn't made it back to that post when I was looking through for similar threads.

Excellent ideas!

Regs,
Jeff
