This is probably a stupid question but I have learned if the lit does not specifically say it don't assume it. And no where in my research of all the RF remotes on the market does it say that it will control a IF device directly. On the RF remotes ( in general) will they also control a device directly via the IF sensor. I want to setup a remote closet out of the way with my satilite receiver and other devices in it that I will control using the RF function of the remote. But my television will obviously be in the room I'm viewing in. Will the RF remote control the functions of the TV itself or will I have to use my IF remote that comes with the TV to control it and then use the RF remote to control the out of site units. Obviously I would like to use one remote that does it all. Then again maybe some RF remotes will control both peices of euipment and some won't

No worries! ( I always wanted to say that) All of URCs remotes can run any IR device directly. The MX remotes will let you send out IR only,RF only or both.

Go to URCs web site and read some manuals. Good luck.

If your looking at RF look to RTI as well, I have had too many problems with the URC RF and none with the RTI

www.rticorp.com

the URC has beem flawless with IR but the RF has had me out on the jobsite way to many extra days troubleshooting rf interference
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

The thing about RF remotes is that there is no universal remote that can control individual devices via RF...at least on on purpose. This is mainly because of the high cost associated with FCC licensing.

The ONLY device that the URC RF can supposedly control directly is one of the Hughes DirecTV receivers. I think that's because URC made the Hughes remotes though and just happend to work out that way.

Any of the URC RF remotes can be used with an MRF module and will allow you to control the components in your closet. The remotes can send IR, RF, or both.

If you have any other questions, feel free to call me for a free consultation at: (914) 509-5360. I'm always happy to help.

Which Hughes? I have Hughes HIRD-E86 and HTL-HD. How would I try?

Hiker,

Just set it to RF only for that device and use the default ID on the box. I don't know if it will work for your model or not...or even if it will work at all anymore.
