Any shot at discrete power on & off for this POS? I tried all the files in the file section.

oex, For some reason Sony used discretes for most of their VCRs, but not nearly the same percentage of DVD players. If they are basing it on a DVD code (which they probably are), discretes are not likely for this unit. Thank you, Damon DG = = = = = http://www.ProRemotes.com - Authorized Dealer & Remote Programming

This turd is a HTIB so I have just found out. I'll try some audio codes. Sony is ZERO help on this one. They suck!

Don't give up yet, Sony always has discretes sometimes it takes a little while for us to find them. I need to find the discretes if we are selling this unit. I have most Sony discretes in pronto format and will load it up and test them quick. The HTIB units actually have more discretes than you might think!

you may have already done this, but hit every button on the original remote including "FM" and "Close". Sometimes these sony codes trigger an "on".
I feel your pain.

For what it's worth I haven't 'given up' on one customers VCR/DVD combo in about 5 years now...and in all this time i have NEVER, never, never found a discrete code to turn it on or off. I do not believe they exist and question whether Sony ever made these units to begin with, or are there Daewoo parts or something underneath?
They are no fun for a variety of other reasons too:
1) component out usually only works on the DVD side, which means using up two video inputs for one device (i.e. composite or s-video for VCR as well as component for DVD) 2) you can't tune a cable channel using the remote keypad IF you are in VCR mode and tuned to the rear or front input (you MUST use the "input" button or channel up or down first to anchor to a channel THEN the keypad works) 3) if your VCR needs to go in for service, so does your DVD player

Which DVD/VCR combo are you referring to?? Discretes exist for the SLV-D series as well as the DVD-R/VCR units. I doubt it is a DVD-R/VCR unit you refer to because they haven't been out for 5 years. Besides the HTIB units these are the only two types of DVD/VCR combo units Sony makes as far as I know. If you need discretes for the SLV-D series, I uploaded this file a while ago.
