I have an ACT-3 Acurus pre-amp for which the remote is lost. I downloaded the ACT-3 codes for my MX-700 and was trying to teach the codes to my MX-500. The MX-500 has trouble learning the codes according to how long I hold the buttons down on the "sending" unit to the "receiving" unit. Some codes are learned well and some have to be taught over and over again adjusting how long I hold down the sending buttons. Is this unusual?

Not really. Some commands are difficult (if not impossible) for the MX-500 to learn. Typically, you only want to use a single push of the button on the remote you're learning from. You hold it down or "flutter" it to learn commands you want to repeat (like Volume or Channel Up/Down). Mike www.SurfRemoteControl.com
