Bob,
No problem whatsoever. Life calls. Thanks already for all the help and those sample files. I'll play around with them a bit in the 3000 editor and hopefullt that will clear up my understanding of variable usage.

Well, I may have figured out the MRF-300 to MSU480 connection configuration. It looks like you can take an emitter output from the 480 and into the 300's IR input. As I understand it, that sends all signals from the 480 to all outputs of the 300 (no routing). Alternatively, I think I saw a thread saying that I could take an emitter output of the 300 into a sensor input of the 480. I noticed also that the 300 is the only RF receiver from URC that doesn't need a resistor inline in order to accommodate this last one. I also came across a post from a URC guy who explained the differences between the 250 and the 300. All in all lot's of good info.
I guess from what I read also that the only real benefit to keeping the Niles with the 300 would be the extra emitter outputs.

Jeff,
You are correct. I'd put one of the emitter wires of the 300 into the 480 if your are going to use the RF. The 300 can power up to 12 emitters without a problem. You would just have to use a Y adapter or splice two emitters together. The only reason to use the 480 is for extra emitters.
If you need use the 480. Connect an emitter output from the 300 using the wire from the tip into the data slot on the 480. Then connect the sleeve wire to the ground.

In computer programming terms (and for all you fellow computer um...enthusiasts), variables are similar to an "if - than" statement. For example: "if the system is on, than disable the system on macro". That's just a very basic idea, but it can be applied to various situations. Thanks again Bob and thanks to Damon as well. Hopefully I'll have some time to tinker in the next few weeks with the device layout and possibly pick up a 300 to play with. It's always cool to find new uses in an existing device. Of course, should I come across a 950 when one of my local retailers gets it in (I definitely need to see how it feels in my hand first before buying), I may have to try one of those too. :-)

Is there a way you can have a button combination to just jump to that device without the macro sequence first? I remember doing this on my original Pronto but I didn't think you could with URC remotes. By the way, if you can with even the 700/800 and I somehow overlooked it, I'm an idiot and please feel free to rag on me for it ;-). Jeff, On a 700/800/850 pressing Main + the device button at the same time will bypass the macro on that device and jump straight to page 1 of the Device. BTW, BobL...that's an awesome utilization of a 3000!

Do any of you have a MX 950? If so what has been your experience so far? Pro and Con. I can't find a review. Probable too soon. Thanks.

mcdand, No, there are no reviews of the MX-950 yet, but they are selling quite nicely. I must admit that everything, including the packaging, has exceeded my expectations of the finished product. The remote looks far better in person than any of the existing photos can possibly show. If you (or anyone else here) have any questions about it, feel free to call me at: (914) 509-5360. I am always happy to answer questions and provide free consultations. Thank you, Damon DG = = = = = http://www.ProRemotes.com - Authorized Dealer & Remote Programming

However, the first time I held it in my hand I was very impressed with how nice it felt and how naturally everything is laid out.
