Hi all,

having some IR and RF problems with UK satellite boxes (Sky and sky+), have been finding it hard tweaking the settings so that on menus it moves to cursor seamlessly. Often it either does not move or skips too many.

I was looking at some of these posts and there was one in particular and it was about RF troubleshooting. it suggests setting all your devices to individual lines, not set to all, and that it is something the guys at URC hate installers doing. I was confused at this as i have 'all off' and 'all on' buttons on all the pages and i believe that if i set each device on its own line then i will loose the functionality of these buttons. is there anyway around this? (apart from deleting the buttons!) i also find it annoying that you can only punch through hard buttons, is this true or am i missing something?

thanks for any advice, these things are starting to drive me up the wall!!

I'm not sure what you mean by "All Off or On", but if they're macros containing all of the On or Off commands, assigning individual devices to specific emitters will not affect them. It's best to assign each emitter independently in the RF Control section, so I'm not sure why anyone at URC would tell you otherwise.

I agree with Mike. It is typically best to set each of the emitters to a specific port...especially if you have two like devices in the system, such as two satellite boxes. This will only alter how the remote sends a signal to the device and should not cause problems with the functionality of your devices.

Yes, a punch through can only be done through the corresponding hard buttons. If you want to use LCD buttons, you can create shortcuts. This is done within the Edit & Label Buttons window...select the button you want, then the device you want to take the command from, select the IR command from that device, and lastly name the button and save it.

Let me know if this helps.

Thank you,
Damon DG

cheers guy for your replys. have managed to sort out the programming issues, still learning which i think is why i was having problems.

though it has been vastly improved, the problem with the sky satellite box still remains. which is that the cursor is not very responsive to button presses and either moves too many lines on the EPG or not enough. have checked with the mx3000 people and apparently this is a known issue so hopefully they can resolve it!

Hey sli,

Are you getting the mx 3000 working 100% reliably IR only?
Set the remote to Ir only and unplug the base station. See if your 3000 will operate that satellite box the right way IR. If it does, move on to troubleshooting the mrf base station setup.
Otherwise try differet methods of learning those satellite navigation commands until they respond the way you want. Hope this helps!

Sli,

I had exactly the same problem, and found that in most cases is was that the MX-3000 software defaults to repeating the IR code 3 times at every press. If you reduce this to 1 repeat per press the Sky+ boxes were fine. 3 code repeats (and more) were fine for discretes, but not for menu movements etc.

Richard.
