I'm thinking about upgrading to a DVD Mega Changer, and using Bracken's DMX-3000.

I was wondering what units people have good luck with?

I believe my criteria would be: Support for multiple units into a single connection on the receiver would be very desireable, I believe some units accomplish this... Who? An easy to load slot or seperate tray for rentals would be my 2nd wish, but without this capability I would just keep my existing player for this capability. My last wish would be for SACD and mp3 support.

Suggestions?

You might look in to the Kenwood DV-5900M. It has the rental slot( actually a 3-disc rental slot), Is compatible with MP3 and can be daisy-chained together with two other like units for up to 1200 disc capacity...
E-mail me for a link to photos of my theater...

I have two daisy chained Pioneer DV-F727s that work very well, but cannot daisy chain component video, only composite and s-video.

They are 301+300, with one easy access rental slot.

I have the Kenwood DV-5900M. I am very happy with it, but it is a bit pricey. I paid $1000 cash. Vanns had some recons for sale some time ago, not sure if they still have them. It has 3 rental slots and as the person above said can hook three together. I also looked at the Sony 400 ES line changer and opted for the Kenwood.

I am used mine with the beta version of DMX-3000 when Bracken helped add the functionality for me to work with my changer since it has the +10 and +100 disc select protocol rather than direct addressing. I purchased the full version and am working on loading the rest of my collection into it so that I can use the new version.

kenwood has a DV-5050M that also is a 400 DVD changer but not sure what it lacks. I knew when I bought mine but forget now....

Good Luck

Thanks Gents!

I'm going to go with a Kenwood DV-5900M. I like the idea of being abie to not run seperate component inputs for seperate players.

I found some factory refurb units available. I think I'll probably buy the refurb, as $700 sounds like a prettty good price.

What has the reliability of the Kenwood been? Any service needed? After having the unit for how long? Do you have any disk loading problems?

Thanks again!!!

I bought a refurb for $500 from Vanns and when I got it the discs jammed when the carousel turned. I heard something loose in there that likely happened in transit. They were out of stock and happily refunded my money and paid the return shipping. I ended up buying a new one from a place in NY when I was at my brother's house for Xmas. No problems in 8 months. You want to watch as sometimes the warranties on Kenwood's refurbs can be pretty short. Their Soveriegn line (which includes the DV5900M) has a 2 year warranty (I think) and some credit cards will add an extra year to that.

Good Luck
Jay
