URC will demonstrate some new products at CEDIA this year, with training by Hank. Here's some preliminary info:

TX-1000

- 36-40 device touchscreen (apparently monochrome) about the size of a Sony RM-AV3100. The apparent successor to the MX-1000.

MX-900

Basically an 850 with a single line display like a 350.

MRF-500 Automation Station

- RS-232 station with video and current sensing

KP-100

- Wall keypad

The TX-1000 sounds particularly interesting to us remote freaks. ;-)
As there is currently nothing to compete with the Pronto TSU-3000 in its price range, this could be a significant competitor.

Is the KP-100 going to be the same as the B&K or is this something completely new? Also, is this supposed to be the one with Wi-Fi? I can't remember which model that was with the larger touch screen and Wi-Fi.

Thank you,
Damon DG

The KP-100 is supposed to be new, but I don't know much else about it at the moment.

Oh, ok. So it's not the device I'm thinking of.

I dont know if it is Wi-Fi specifically, but the information on URC classes as Cedia states that it is Two-Way. Sounds very cool, looking forward to all the new toys. :-)

I'm looking forward to the MRF500. This will save me hours of tearing apart equipment to place the eye inside (especially with products like Rotel receivers that take FOREVER to pull apart).

THAT must be why I've been in this bizz so long!

It's all about playing with someone elses TOY'S! ;-)

In my toddlerhood, I must have been deprived!

All kiding aside, your absolutely right!

I'm definetly 'toy' driven!

Just look in my house, my garage, my toolbox, my truck!

If it weren't for 'toys' I'd be RICH!!

BUT, it would be an 'empty' rich! ;-)

Very exciting about the new basestation. A little speculation here, please:

Would this more likely indicate newer versions of the 3000 that have 2 way rf for feedback and variables?

Or

Would this indicate a "smart" basestation, with some logic actually programmed into the base itself?

Or something else entirely?

Tippy-tie,

Unless they want to prevent that functionality for being used with existing remotes, it will most likely happen in the base. If they do intend to incorporate it into the remotes, rather than the base, then we probably will not see it until the next generation is out.

Thank you,
Damon DG

Damon
do you think there is any chance there is receive capability in the 3000 that has not been activated yet? I imagine probably not, from your previous post, but thought I'd ask.

I can tell you with absolute certainty that the 3000 is not capable of receiviing.

Tippy-tie,

Dale and I would have known, as we were both involved with the MX-3000 in extreme depth...possibly from different vantage points though.

Let's say URC did upgrade future models of MX-3000s with two-way communication capabilities. That would mean the thousands of units out in the field and on the shelves would be outdated. I don't believe URC would want to work that way. If anything, it will be implemented at the base OR in upcoming models. Those are the only reasonable ways they will release products and not lose money in the process.

Thank you,
Damon DG
